Drive error

Past 2 days I have received the above "Drive Error" it follows with a help choice which says remove the battery and restart. Both time I have done so and went off on 40-50 mile rides.

Possibly related issue.I still have jerkiness in level 3. Also I found a small cylinder sized magnet stuck on the plug of the charger. It is about the size of 1 of the connectors inside the plug but i didn't see any obvious place it came from. It could have been from anything in the garage and just was attracted to another magnet. The attachment still works and the battery charges. Maybe it is part of the cover to the plug? That has now detached from the plastic attachment cord and I am keeping an eye so i dont lose it .

Any info on the error? What drive is it referring to? The drive train? Is there a computer drive of some kind in the Omni?

Waiting for next week after the show to call my dealer but more than curious in the mean time

Need to add to this. last night after riding i didnt charge, thought it may bew ass best to let it cool and charge in the morning (is this a better choice?) . This morning it wouldnt charge on the bike, had the cable connected and the bike didnt go into charge mode, LEDs on the charger didnt change, basically didnt connect. Removed the battery and started charging directly, seemed to work, reinstalled the battery and no joy, pushed on the cable in multiple directions and it started. I left it and after work i will see if it really charged.

When I put the charger on after seeing the little magnet, I thought it was less magnetic when connecting but thought I am imageining something , now I am not sure.

The error you see is because of leaving the charger on even after the charging is done.
This is one of those tiny quirks. Whenever I turn off the charger right about 97, 98%, it doesn't do that.
My understanding is leaving the charger on even for 30 mins after the battery has reached 100% , pushes the voltage a little above 54V and the controller struggles to calibrate this voltage and pops up drive error warning.
Since I stop charging at about ~90%, I have not had this warning pop up.

Whew , good to know, thanks Ravi. My procedure is either plugin and go to bed or in the morning plugin and go to work , i cant watch it while it charges so I will take out the battery when needed (instructed) .I hope at some point they correct he firmware Is it best to charge immediately after riding or wait for the morning?

Opimax you've brought up a subject I've been wanting to comment on. On St2 chargers and others with magnetic attachment to batterys, the tip of cord should be inspected for foreign objects prior to charging that might have been grabbed by tip . Thanks for mentioning this charger feature. I have been wanting to find some type of rubber cap that can be placed over tip, and keep, ferous debris from attaching. I have also found things stuck on there. A penny was on there one time. Also don't forget to push plug in on other and of charger ,mine was working it's way out again I noticed last time I charged my St2 battery. I have also had Drive Error or something liked that post on Omni screen. Since not fully charging battery , and unplugging when green light starts flashing error post hasn't occured. Thanks for mentioning this Ravi, and posts on Interbike. Was it the St2 that won or St2 s

I do the same David.
The magnetic plug should be kept away from iron filings or dust to be able to charge effectively.
ST2 won the award. ST2-s will be available Spring 2016.
