Drive Error on ST2

There's no other way to field repair the rear tire without wheel removal, hence the instructions in the manual. However, in the event of an issue, this bullet in the warranty could be applied:

  • Repairs that have not been carried out by trained specialists
I think I would raise any number of questions with the dealer as well as Stromer if I remove my back tire and then am told the warranty is void. I can see the possibility of voiding the warranty if someone whom is not a trained specialist (and what does that mean by the way, since it doesn't seem to be spelled out?) fooled around with the electrical system on the bike perhaps...but I would expect that if I took my bike to my local dealer that he could certainly remove the wheel for service and then reinstall it without being a trained Stromer specialist. The instructions for doing so can be found in the ST-2 manual on the the internet. And if I can't do the job myself without voiding the warranty, I'd raise particular hell with Stromer as well as my dealer. I'm 5 hours away from the nearest Stromer dealer in any direction and realized that prior to purchasing the bike, but it is a quality product and I'm pretty sure that they will stand behind it...

In my understanding, this (Repairs that have not been carried out by trained specialists) belongs only to the specific Stromer parts = battery, motor, controller, display...

If through bad luck, during a typical bike repair (a flat, broken chain...) a Stromer part was damaged, you will need some goodwill from the dealer.

Yes, that's true in my book too. I'm not repairing any Stromer part, just replacing the tube, and as a result needing to remove the rear wheel. Removal of a wheel is not a repair but a minor disassembly. The actual repair is on the inner tube I've patched. bThe blanket statement "Repairs that have not been carried out by trained specialists" implies repairs to the bike itself and not to replace an inner tube. Lot of interpretation and loopholes in that.

Also, the fact that the instructions provided by Stromer to remove the rear wheel during a puncture have no footnote or reference to the void of the warranty in doing so, makes it a particularly compelling case.

Or a good lawyer!
