Thank you. The RemiDemi is actually my favorite as well. It seems like it has absolutely everything I’m looking for. I wish it were a tad cheaper, but maybe I’ll be able to find one on sale here over the winter or even a slightly used one. Thanks for the response.I recommend a test drive on all. The powerful BBS motor on the Dost is appealing but it uses a basic cadence sensor instead of the natural pedaling feel of the torque sensor on the Bosch equipped Benno bikes. I think the RemiDemi is really quite an awesome bike. And I don't think you'll crave much more power than the Bosch Performance Line motor offers. It'll climb any hill you point it at.
I have not decided yet. I’ll probably end up going for whichever Benno I can get the best deal on. They’re all over my original budget, but I like them so much I’m just biting the bullet. I’ll keep you posted and please do the same for me please. Most of the changes they make are to the battery and the torque. Look at those specs to see.
Also, the newest one puts the battery upright behind the seat post instead of under the cross bar so we'll have better/more water bottle cage options.
Did you decide what to get yet? So many great options!
What year was the previous one? And why did you upgrade?I already ordered a new Boost. Should arrive mid to late January but will have monster torque at 85Nm. My older one only had 55Nm and was still decent at a hillclimb.
So you had a 2017 boost and then switched to what? You got rid of the boost because your kid is big? How old/big? I was thinking the boost over the RemiDemi because I'd like to take my 6-year old or 2-year old with me sometimes.I got rid of my 2017 this past spring now that my kid is big. I wanted a smaller (more rack friendly bike) but I have totally missed it and dislike the bike I switched to. They're still the same frame but better specs now so I'll gladly go back to an even better version of the Boost. Can't wait.
Thanks for all the info. I love learning more about these bikes, especially since I don't really live within 5 hours of a Benno dealer so I doubt I'll be able to ride one prior to purchasing. Is there a big difference between the battery location on the 2019 and 2020 other than for water bottles? My son rides his bike a lot too when we go to my inlaws (flatter), but we live on a steep hill so it's tough around here unless we put it in the van. Here's a question, and this may be silly, I don't know. Could I haul his bike on the back of the boost somehow? My kid can still fit on it, the rear rack can hold 130 lb's they say. The Remi holds 65 lbs and my kid just now weighs that much at 8 yo. I just meant she rides her own bike everywhere now. She's been riding pedals since she was 4 but didn't used to be able to go far like we enjoy so she would ride on the Boost. For hauling 2 kids I'd probably choose the Boost just because it has more torque (85 vs 65 Nm). The Boost was fine with my one kid but it was still hard on the biggest SF hills. If you ride mostly flat places it probably won't matter so much. I only ever got a stoker bar, never bothered getting a seat or rail, she was happy just holding on.
I switched to a 2020 Specialized Como 5.0. I have a Specialized Stumpjumper and Roubaix as my analog bikes and am generally a big fan but this Como is a dog. The derailer is crap and the chain is always coming off the biggest ring in the back. Also, the battery housing isn't a great design and it doesn't always want to fit just right. The electronics don't always start, lot of error codes. Never any problems or issues with the Benno so I'm happy to go back.
Beautiful! Congrats!!!
