Does anyone know of an alternative kickstand for the Multicharger?

I love my Multicharger, but as my cargo (= child and some other stuff) gets heavier the kickstand is becoming a real weakness. It doesn't work well if you have weight in the back -- why did RM not use something more suitable for a heavy cargo bike, such as the one used by Tern? Anyway, does anyone know of other stands that might fit? I suspect not, but thought I'd ask anyway, just in case.

The Multicharger3 features a doble-legged kickstand option. R&M identifies it as Ursus 80 Jumbo II double-legged kickstand. It appears to be widely available online. A dealer may have one in stock to check that it will work with your MY. Otherwise, ask R&M customer service.

I own the Pletscher double-legged that I purchased years ago for a regular bike. It attaches to the frame using a lower integrated supporting plate and an upper plate that bolts on above. This would have to wide enough for the bike frame, yet not interfere with operation. AdditionalIy, I had to cut off a bit from the legs to fit the bike. Another point of concern is that the legs clear the frame/wheels when in riding position. If your frame is similar to the current Multicharger option, the Ursus might be the least trouble.

I agree that the single-legged (Pletscher in my case) kickstand on R&M models is insufficient across models, not just heavier cargo. They break, which has happened to me both with R&M and an older Tern Vektron.

Thanks. Yes, that's the one installed on my bike, but it isn't easy to use with a heavy load. You need to lift the back of the bike up while moving it forward and keeping your foot in front of the stand. It always feels like it's about to break because of the pressure being put on the stand from weight and forward movement. It's not that it doesn't work - it does -- but when I see people on their Tern GSDs with multiple kids and cargo in the back release the kickstand lock with their finger, then gently push a fully-loaded bike forward with ease, I'm annoyed that RM didn't bother to do this properly. I was hoping someone might have found an alternative that works better, but I suspect the bike can only take this particular stand.

The Tern kickstand is available to older GSD owners as an upgrade. Might as well swing by a Tern dealer to see if it fits your bike, although I suspect not tall enough.
