Do you guys bring the battery in during those hot summer days?

I ride my bike to work and I park it outdoor. It was super hot total, I was wondering if I should unlock the battery from my explore e3 and bring it with me inside the office

Is it in direct sunlight? If so, I would bring it in. I usually took mine in when parked at the office but moreso to reduce the temptation for someone to try to steal the bike (or the battery). I think @Court has mentioned in his reviews that heat is worse than cold in terms of battery longevity. If it was hot but my bike was in the shade all day I would probably leave it on the bike (assuming you aren't worried about theft).

I would think it ok to leave it out. I just noticed you're in Toronto and not Phoenix for example. Where I lock my bike for work it gets a couple of hours of afternoon sun but is shaded the rest of the time. In your case sounds like the hottest part of the day it will be in shade. I wouldn't worry about it.

Generally speaking, where you are comfortable, your battery will also be comfortable.

If where your battery is located is either too hot or too cold for you to be comfortable, the temperatures will be degrading its chemistry. The more extreme the temperatures, the faster the degradation.

it's under direct sunlight for 3 - 4 hrs, the sun moves away from that area in the afternoon.

It would be better to take it inside.

Thank you everyone for the tip. I think I ll just take it in cuz when I check at lunch time and battery is warm from the sun. My previous job has a roofed bike cage, so I never had this problem

I really hope I don’t have to replace the battery for a long long time given it’s almost 40% of the total cost

i have my explore e3 since last oct, have 24 cycles in battery So far. Health is 100%. Giant claim the battery should last 400-600 cycles , then it should last me 6-8 yrs (I think I put on 60-70 cycles a year).
