Do not buy this battery!!!

OOh no! That's horrible. Hopefully everyone is ok and not a lot of damage done. Were you just charging the battery? The listing says it's a 2A fast charger. 2A is a typical charging current. Fast chargers are usually 4-5A or greater.
Also, I wonder what cells were in the battery for that price. 48v 10ah. Most 48v batteries are 13S4P, maybe 5P depending on the physical size of the battery. 2500mah would be the cell capacity for that particular battery, if it is in fact 4P. The BMS is rated at 30A for that battery. Each cell would have to have continuous discharge rating of 7500mah.

Actually it charged fine. It caught fire almost immediately after I connected it. The odd thing is it still worked after the fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt and it self extinguished about a minute after it went up. thanks for your concern.

Did you check the polarity before connection the battery?
If not, it's hardly the battery's fault.

Sounds like a loose nut behind the handlebars as the short wasn't in the battery but in the bike wiring.
Perhaps techpro isn't an appropriate username 🤔

Batteries should have a fuse. Mine from Luna does, but it cost $610, not 139.
A fuse is never a bad idea.
I installed them on my diy for both the motor and then a smaller one for accessories.
The 80v DC type... Not the glass 120/240v ac ones I often see used
I'm a pro_tect tech_pro 😉

I just bought a couple 30 amp DC fuse holders with spare fuses,..
