Discolored copper wire in Bafang Mid drive

Hi, about a month ago my e-assist suddenly stopped working when riding slow up a dirt road with a decent grade. In addition to not providing assist there was resistance when rolling the bike backward. Since then I have taken the entire motor apart, changed the controller, and looked for damage on the clutch and the nylon gear. Through all of this the only damage/ oddity that I have seen is some discoloration on the copper wire inside of motor (see attached photo). The discoloration is on more segments then shown in the photo. Could this discoloration be related to why the motor no longer works or is this normal? If yes, what should I do? If not, what else should I check? Sorry, I am completely new to mechanics/motors.

Unfortunately looks like your windings got cooked, you can rewind them or simply get a new motor.

Yes that's not a great sign....

You can get a replacement stator for $100. Maybe worth swapping it out.
