Hi, I'm new to the forum. After a lot of research this winter and now a few test rides I'm about to buy my first ebike. I used to ride 30 mi. a day on wknds but after a long hiatus I've fallen in love with ebikes. I will be riding around Manhattan, Brkln, along the river, etc., so not much in way of hills.

I wanted to keep total costs under $3k. I'm thinking of getting the Gazelle T9: it's light at only 49 lbs. I think a 60 lb. bike is a lot to manage, even just getting it in a car or up some stairs. I'm concerned T9 that it only has 400WH battery. I rode the T10 and it was beautiful ride, the bike was tight and everything seemed to work so well together. Tomorrow i test a T9.

I also looked into Rook, which is heavier but kind of souped up with a lot more power and battery WH. I'm going to try the Pegasus Premio Cross Wave, it has 500KW battery but other pegasus' are out of my $goal.

thanks for any responses! David

Welcome to EBR, I can only attest to the difference in lifting your bike onto the rack itself and I can honestly sat that the difference between 50 lbs and 60 lbs is tremendous. It could mean an injured back. As far as going upstairs, most mid to upper end bikes have a walk mode which makes it easier to handle going upstairs.

Good news, i bought a Gazelle C-8 this weekend and love it. Weight is 54 lbs., which is a little heavier than i had hoped, but everything else was perfect. I like the belt drive and internal gearing - it is absolutely silent when riding. Step-through is handy.
thanks all.
