To be honest, I don't understand all the angst about intersections. Maybe it is because I have never been in a situation described in the video, where there are multiple cyclists involved? Regardless, I ride in downtown D.C. often, and I have never felt any special danger. When I come to an intersection, I pull up behind the car or cars in front of me, and I wait for them to proceed before I do. If I am at the head of the line, I take my position near the middle of the lane and cross when the light turns. I don't need a throttle; I did not have one before an e-bike, so I don't need one now.
