Cross Current S2 recomendations

I am looking at purchasing a Juiced Cross Current S2 bike. I have heard a lot of pros and cons mostly with quality control and build quality of Juiced bikes in the past along with poor customer service. I actually recently received an email from the CEO of Juiced bikes pledging a better, revamped customer service department. Have they gotten better? Would you recommend this model for mostly flat streets and sidewalks? Any other recommendations from this company or others? Thank you!

@wings02 Four years ago I put a conversion kit on my 20 year old mountain bike for running errands and work commute on streets and sidewalks. Was pleased with the results, but two years ago decided to get an S2. I was attracted to the extra class 3 speed, front shock absorbers, and torque sensor that my kit setup did not provide, and the S2 does provide at a reasonable price point (wait until Nov sales) compared to other brands. My experience has been only positive. Box arrived a bit banged up but the contents were undamaged. Assembly was easy. The few new bike owner questions I had were promptly answered by online support.

At first I did not like the torque sensor as it seemed to defeat the purpose of assist in that you need to peddle harder to get more assist. I switched to cadence sensor through the display menu but found that to be overly sensitive and unusable as it is optimized for use with the torque sensor. Subsequently realized that shifting gears plays into the torque sensor assist level and now prefer torque over cadence sensor. Hard to go back. Same can be said for front shocks and extra speed (20 mph seems painfully slow now).

The only modifications I made to personalize was to add a seat post shock and Jones H-Bars that are slightly raised and swept back for a more comfortable riding position. Best of luck and Cheers.

@wings02 I would also add that believe it or not, 2 years ago when I made my CC S2 purchase, there were not nearly as many viable e-bike manufacturers as there are today. At that time the S2 stood out to me based on features and price. I don't envy anyone trying to comparison shop for an e-bike these days. 😁
