Creo at 5000 miles

No dramatic scenery today, just the Mohawk River on a rainy 40 degree December 2nd. But I got to 5000 miles on my aluminum Creo before the weather tries to shut us down tomorrow, so that’s one more checked off the 2023 To Do list.

I bought this thing in April of last year, 2022, and it has been the best bike I ever owned. I’ve posted a good bit about it now and then, but suffice it to say that it’s charm continues, to the point that I recently retired - gave to my son, actually - my trusty 2018 Giant Toughroad. From here on out, it’s all Creo, all the time. Nothing else comes close. I had considered getting another gravel or even mountain type bike, but I think I’ll just stick with what I know. This has done more for my fitness than I could have expected. The other one actually made things too easy, but the end result is now that probably a third of all my riding is done with the assist switched off, and when it’s on I rarely go above my Eco settings.

During that same time frame since April last year, I also managed to put on about 1500 miles with the Giant, so it‘s been a good year. Here’s hoping that at 72 I can keep this up long enough to realize the goal of riding the circumference of the earth sometime next year, having started my ebike adventure in late August 2016. Been a hell of a ride.

This is a primary consideration for my next ebike. I hope we have more and more options in the sub 35, sub 30 lb weight category. Normal bikes with boost when you need/want/feel like it.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the Creo so much! 5k miles in that period is awesome.

Thanks Joe! Hope to get a few more anyway, partly so I can get back down to Charlotte and ride some more of the Greenway system down there. How’s the infrastructure in the Triangle?

Some damn good miles there Dave. The target when I got mine was to do 3650 miles, 10 miles for each day and I did that in my first year. Dropped off a bit this year with poor weather, typical UK. Was also out the country for 3 holidays which restricted my bike time, but not complaining about that - lol

sweet!!! love the update.

my creo was also super reliable and great to ride for 6,000+ miles in a year, zero problems!

It is fantastic! We have greenways everywhere, plus the American Tobacco and Neuse River Trails, and 16+ mi of gravel in Umstead State Park (adjacent to RDU airport) There's over 100 miles of greenways just in Raleigh, then add all of the other towns, it has to be around 200+ miles. If you do happen to come down, please let me know! It'd be my pleasure to ride with you (although I'm likely much slower).

Here's a little taste I refer to constantly: https://bikeraleighgreenways.com/
