Could someone put together screen shots for smooth settings.

I know someone at bafang that if I could get the settings we want canbus ultra's. I can probably get them to make us a bin. But we would have to use the Besst programmer.

It's been a few weeks now, wondering about the status of this project? Were the "Smooth" screen shots in the link above acceptable to your friend at Bafang?

I just hookup the besst programer and read the information out of controller. Then updated it with the new bin bafang sent me. I don't see any difference. I'm getting in contact with them to see if they will let me have the program to read the bin and make changes our self.

They are not letting me have anything other than the besst programmer and current bin file. I hope someone comes up with a way to update these bin's.

So to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you've found there was no "custom by friend" .bin available?

Yes, there's a fast growing bunch of people looking forward to changing some of these settings....

I'm going to try again and see if they would make a custom bin. Is there anyway we could get something simple enough in writing they would understand what the majority of us want in this bin?

Just a guess, but my bet is they know they have an issue with the stock programming. The much better question is why they seem to have their head in the sand on the issue. The UART version of the Ultra SHOULD prove/make it very clear what can be done with it - yet they seem to have the issue on ignore. Beats me....

Could someone that's known in the group get me the bin file for UART version with the smooth settings we want? Bafang engineers said they would look at it and see if they could make the changes.

I would be willing to give that a shot, but it's going to be a while. I won't have access to the bike until after 11/1. I would be willing to save off my current settings in the form of a .bin.

Thought is though, I know there are several guys running the "smooth" settings, maybe one of them could get that done a little sooner.

Like Thomas, I'd like a little more info about who it is that you plan on sending this file to. If it's somebody within Bafang, I think it's a pretty safe bet they already have the "smooth" settings .bin in hand, and for whatever reason are just sitting on it. Maybe a money thing? What's in it for them? If this is going to happen, it will very likely need to get done outside of Bafang.

If Bafang was interested in that .bin file, it would already be done. That's my thought anyway.... -Al

It's someone I've been working with. They have already sent me a besst programer and there newest bin file which isn't any better. For no charge and they said to send them the bin we like in the uart they see what they can do.

That's fine. I'll get you the file soon - if I see nobody else has. -Al

Here's my current file. You need to change the file extension to .el before you send it to them. The board won't allow a .el file to be attached. PM me your email and I can send you the original if that doesn't work.

It's very similar to the Frey smooth, I've been planning to do a writeup on what I changed and why, I just haven't had the time. In short, I make it even smoother in some ways. Mainly aimed for general use/trail riding giving better control at low speeds even in higher assist modes--but still having full power for that mode when you put the hammer down and a more usable throttle for technical sections. I'm sure eventually I'll figure out even more fine-tuning little things to change, but it's good enough now I haven't felt the need to really change anything at this point. It's a huge improvement for anybody who doesn't want a bike that acts like an over-powered cadence sensing bike which is how I felt the stock tune acted.

Everybody else is free to download it as well and give it a try.
