Christmas in August - Just got my XM700+

Finally broke down an ordered my Trek XM700+. As you can imagine, I was not excited to hear there is a 6-8 week lead time on delivery. Sigh. SO not good with waiting.

Last night got a call from the LBS that they got a surprise shipment from Trek, which included my XM700+. So my 6-8 week lead time was in fact only 6 days! They got it assembled and tested, and we raced down after work to pick it up.

Man, is this thing fast.

Excited to take it out on a real ride, this weekend. Not sure I'll be able to wait.

The reason I purchased it, we live in a place with 12-14% grades, so the extra wattage will be a welcome companion on my rides.

I hope you enjoy it. Contrary to what I was originally told, shops will still order the XM700+ and I should have one coming in next week.

I don't have an excuse to justify riding it. It just seems like it'd be a heck of a lot of fun! I typically ride close to 18mph without electric so it'd have to be a speed pedelec to make it worth the purchase.

I've only test-driven Currie bikes at this point, and I was very underwhelmed. Hopefully the Trek is as good on the road as it is on paper.

Ride report - tonight's ride. Flats comfortably cruised along at 22-23mph on Eco. Small rises disappear with a flick up to Tour. Hit a small hill (6-7%) motored comfortably at 18mph on Sport and my final climb of 8-10% with peaks at 13%, climbed in Turbo. Started the last climb in 1st gear, too low. Ultimately found spinning up in 3 and 4th gear was most comfortable. Speed stayed pretty steady at 12-13mph up the 10% grade. That'll do nicely Trek. That'll do nicely.

Tonights ride was about 15 miles and 800' of climbing. Left the house with 4 bars and got back with 2 bars left. It dropped from 3rd bar to 2, about a mile from the house. Good power, ease of use, and not bad on battery usage.

So far, absolutely amazed by the technology and ride.

these bikes always come out 6 months after i buy a new bike i think is great only to be blown away by trek or some other manufacturer the bad part is i am a year out $$ to be able to up grade again oh well all i can do is start saving and hope a used one comes up for sale

I have been riding my Trek for about 800 miles carrying an extra battery and charger with me. At the break in the ride I immediately swap batteries and charge the used one for about 30 to 40 minutes which is how long our groups break for. I have done a 75 mile ride with 2800 feet of climbing.
