Chinese 24v 280watt motor

I need to reverse this for it to work on my bike. It says its reversible but if I simply reverse polarity it blows the fuse. Any ideas?

If you power up the 'learning' wire on the controller it should reverse the motor...its usually a green wire.

You can indicate that the motor is being learned in the wrong direction (by unplugging and reconnecting the self-learn wire once) and it will reverse the direction and record the states again, saving that and associating that direction with “forward”.

Is it one of these? You reverse the direction by switching the two wires at the motor You don't switch the wires coming out of the battery, because the controller box has circuits that need the +/- 24 V volt polarity.

e of these DC motor kits?

Thanks for your kind replies. I bought two controllers but could not get them to work (or did not get th wiring correct) so I fitted this potentiometer which works good but the wrong way round for my layout. This is my motor.
This is the potentiometer

Re-wired and tested today. It's now running the correct way without blowing the fuse but oddly the on-off swith to the controller is permanently on and the thing blasts off at full speed with no change when I turn the potentiometer control. Any more clues? Great to see it going forward but it's too dangerous to ride as it is.

Sounds like the control is broken, and if you measure it, you get the full 24V. You only flipped the motor wires, not the power wires?

You must have fried it somehow.

I wouldn't use a potentiometer to control a scooter. No spring action to shut off. Too unwieldy to mount, But it's your vehicle.

Good point. It only came about because I bought two of the usual controllers, plus a twist control for the handle bars and could not get anything to work, probably because I could not figure out the wiring with so many wires and no clear instructions.

What's your controller look like? DId you buy it with the throttle, or did you buy them separately? Does the controller have a label in chinese showing the connectors?

Here's what I tried, I bought the second controller after I could not get the first one to work. So many wires. My set up is basic, just the motor and two10amph barreries wired for 24v.

Here's an online wiring diagram for a YiYun brushed motor controller. MAybe it matches your box.
#6 is for throttle
#2 is battery
#1 is motor
#5 is for your on/off switch or ignition lock.
#8 If the scooter has e-brakes, connect them.

Your throttle picture is hard to tell if it's 5 wires or six wires. Three of those wires will connect to the throttle connector above. The other two or three will depend on what you have. Does it have an on/off button? Does it have LED's to show power? You need a better pic.
