Cheap drywall screws outperform expensive wood screws?

they are different. a drywall screw is brittle and will break where. wood screw is softer steel and wont. plus heads are different. Most of the time I can use drywall screws but not always.

I've never used drywall screws for wood projects. Surprising test results.

I use the drywall screws when looks dont matter but for a hinge? they are too brittle. the drywall screws can snap off easily. I have use thousands of drywall screws but I dont do much work that takes regular screws. but you also get a huge amount of sixes you dont get in drywall screws.
