Charged halfway and now unresponsive. Help!

After my ride home Friday I plugged in my charger as usual and all seemed well. The indicator on the Intuvia and the lights on the battery blinked and it said "charging". But when I came in the next morning, the Intuvia still showed "charging" but the battery indicator and LEDs were only up to three and remained there. I tried unplugging, removing the Intuvia, removing the battery and every other combination of moves but nothing helps. When I plug in the charger three bars come on and stay there. When I have the battery on the bike and turn on the Intuvia it turns on but I can't choose any power level. It just jumps right back to off, as if no battery is present.

Any ideas on what to do? I plan to swing by a local store later today but was hoping someone here might have an idea.

Thanks

Since you can’t select a assist level I suspect that the display isn’t fully seated on the mount. You will know there is a good connection when you see 0.0 mph, if you don’t see that it’s not connected.

It’s possible that the battery is charged, but you’re seeing the reading on the display before you started charging since it’s not connected to the bike.

I imagine you have resolved this issue by now, but it will be good for others to know how it worked out.

Thanks for the replies!

I did not make it to the LBS yet but seem to have narrowed it down. There appear to be two separate issues. One being a loose connection or bad contacts. I cleaned the Intuvia contacts and opened the connector side of the motor and made sure everything is seated well.

However, the battery charging issue still happens. I think there is an issue with either the charger or the battery because it also happens when I remove the battery from the bike and plug the charger in straight. Blinking lights, indicating charging, but often that stops before all bars are full and then just remains lit. I have seen it stop at 2, 3 and 4 LEDs. So far I have been able to get it to continue charging after disconnecting and changing position of the cable and battery a couple of times but I need to get this checked. I don't want to risk running out altogether.
I will post an update after I see the LBS on Thursday.

What is your current mileage and your battery's manufacture date?

Don't know the manufacture date. It was on a new 2016 Haibike XDuro Trekking RX that I bought on closeout in January 2018. I have almost 3000 miles on the bike as it is my daily commuter.

I think it would show near the serial number of the battery.

I tried but am not sure I am doing it right. When I put the leads into the openings marked "+" and "-" I don't get a meaningful reading on the multimeter. Is there a trick to it? Normally when I hold them to the poles of a battery in DC mode I get a steady reading.

Update:

I brought the bike to my LBS yesterday for a firmware update and to see if they would pull any error codes. Clean bill of health and no issues with any of the components. Now I am back to thinking my charger may be going bad.
I also had a loose connection which i fixed, so that part of it is dealt with. I'll see if I can borrow my friend's charger and see if I can recreate the problem with it. I hope not.
