I'm looking to get an extra chain. Since I'm going to go with DIY wax lube, it'll be easier to batch them both at once. My understanding is that rear hub motors can use regular bike chains. Do any of you have any recs for reliable 8 speed chains? Any specific brands I should stay away from?

My first KMC chain lasted 5000 miles using 5 W non detergeant oil. The second has 2500 miles on it. I have 8 speeds, 3/32" chain. I bought the second chain plated since the bike stands in the rain a lot.

Yeah, I've been looking at the nickel plated X series KMC chains. They're a step up from what the bikes I'm looking at come with, and I like that they come with a master link.
