OEM socket is indeed threaded. You just screw the bolt in, no worries.
With the typical MTB bolt (with nut), you need to buy a tool to keep the nut in the fixed position first. Then, you discover there is no clearance between the chainring and the motor cover to insert that tool. So, you rotate the bike and unscrew the motor cover. Next, you start cursing... Been there, done that
