Carrying photography gear on a ride

Ive ordered a DJI action 5 pro and mini mic.
The Hero8 is unreliable, rips through batteries and non removable lens is scratched to bits.

See how it goes 246 quid plus 24 for the mic

has anyone tried the insta360 cameras? the x5 seems really impressive, captures a big super distorted 360 spherical image and then has it's own software to edit it down to natural (sort of?) looking videos.

I've ordered a 1980s Asahi Takumar PENTAX-K 135 mm f:2.5 for the equivalent of £75 including shipment 😊

A photo taken with a similar lens on a Pentax K-1.

User Prairie Dog (?) uses an X5, I think. He makes some pretty cool vids.

I have the older X3 and I like it a lot. Here’s some of my commute from the East Bay into SF.

I don't usually take my expensive camera gear on a ride, but when I do, I use this hard shell protective camera case:

Expensive, yes, but so is my camera gear.
I use the MIK rack system on my bike, so I bolted this MIK adapter plate to the bottom of the case:

The adapter locks to the bike and the case itself is also lockable. Won't stop a determined thief but it will keep someone from just walking off with it.
The case is shock resistant so if it comes off the bike or is dropped, the gear inside is protected.

The MIK system is really nice. The baseplate came on the Pinarello. If I wasn't already invested in the Topeak MTX, I would have adopted it. As it is, I had to adapt the Topeak baseplate to the SKS rack.

I also have a few Topeak bags that I had to adapt to the MIK system. Fairly easy to do with the MIK adapter above.

What do you see as the advantage of the MIK. Not seeing one in person, that lock looks like it can be defeated with an ice cream stick or at the very least a screwdriver.
Are the bags better quality?

I use Ortlieb's QL3.1 system on my Ortlieb Office Bag that I use for commuting, which seems similar to MIK. It is not for security, but makes it very easy and quick to attach and remove the bag from the bike. On my Back Roller bags, I just use the older QL2.1 system and it is not that much harder. Maybe only 2-3 seconds difference putting it on and taking both off is about the same effort. Just pull up on the handles of the bag. These are for side mount panniers though. I don't use a trunk bag anymore.
