Can't turn Watt Wagon headlight off!

I got my WW Commuter out today with expectations of giving it to the neibourhood kids and then I discovered one of the nagging issues that made me park it last fall. The headlight doesn't turn off no matter what I do. When I got the bike I learned the hard way to remove the battery after a ride otherwise next ride the battery is dead. The button on the handlebar and the one on the light do nothing, any ideas? TIA

Could it be turned on full time in the display??? Mine has some settings for the lights in the display
I don’t have my bike here or I would look for you

@Feliz are you using the stock Bafang display on your UC, or did you change it out for some other display like the Egg Rider?

@Feliz ...And even when this icon isn't present on your controller the front headlight is still on?

Gee, I never noticed, it's sunny here today and with my 80 year old vision I was having trouble seeing the display. I keep my bikes in a storage I rent and I'll take a look when I go back after lunch. Thanks

Its ironic, when I received the bike the light WOULDNT work at all, I think it was a loose connection.

Is the bike in the shade? Mine definitely has a setting for automatically turning on in the dark , I have mine set to do that
But there were some other settings
But I am sure it is not on when the display is off or the battery is off...

I don't have an auto on/off for the headlight, the only auto off I have is too power the bike off after non use. It's bright daylight here today. I'm donating the bike to the local trade school anyway, it's just that the light gets so hot it would burn your nand if you touched it. Thanks for the feedback.

Feliz, Please note that your lights are the Light and motion 1800Lumen lights that are wired into the battery. They are not tied to the bafang controller. These lights have a DRL (daytime running lights) similar to Supernova lights and don't have an explicit off.

If you don't want them on, I would recommend unplugging the light from the battery (there is a connector if you trace the headlight wire).Let me know if this helps.

I appreciate your donation to kids. That is very generous of you. I hope the bike gets a nice home.

Okay, that explains it. I don't mind them being on all the time when I'm riding, we've had DRL on our cars here for decades, it's when I park the bike and walk away with the light on its bad:( the key doesn't turn the battery off does it, it just unlocks it? Thanks Pushkar.

Hmm, that doesn’t seem logical. When you turn off the display, that should turn off the lights as well. Or, if the bike isn’t being used, shouldn’t the batteries automatically go to sleep, thus turning off the lights? Either way, it seems odd that there should be a separate step to turn off the lights. Isn’t the whole point of DRL so that there isn’t an additional step?

The batteries do go to sleep after 5 minutes. However if the lights are wired in (the first 6 builds of the UC Pro had the 1800 lumen L&M lights), then it may not. In those specific cases we need to manually shut off the battery.

Supernova (which we will offer on the new UC Pro) are motion activated. So they actually shutoff and then the battery can go to sleep.

So with the new superbike you can't shut off the light via the display or even the light itself? It seems like a very basic functionality that anyone would expect. My Haibike allows me to turn on/off the light.

There must be a way to set it up so that you have control over it. I would never use the light during day time in sunny Southern CA; only during dusk.

If done properly, the lights should be wired to the controller not directly to the battery. I still can't imagine that there is no way to do this. This seems like a short-cut solution than a well thought out one.

Oh..
1. Defualt behavior of Supernova is motion sensing.
2. On the new UC Pro, you will have the switch on the magura brakes to control the lights (on / off).
Apologies for the confusion. I forgot we had the switch on the UC Pro 😂 <GoT meme here>
