Can't Tell if My Headlight is On During the Day - Easy Fix

I like to keep my head and tail lights on to increase my visibility when I have to be on the road. Problem is, my 3-button controller uses the "+" button as a secondary function to turn the lights on. And it's easy to accidentally turn them off when changing power modes. I found the only way to tell if my headlight was on was to put my leg out and stick the toe of my shoe in front of the light. Not exactly the best method.

So while wandering through the garage looking for a solution, I noticed my weed wacker line is a nice bright green. It's perfectly round and exactly Ø 3mm. so the solution was pretty easy. By drilling a 3mm hole through the case and into the lamp housing, all I had to do was cut a 3-4mm length of trimmer line, insert it into the hole and the lamp would illuminate it. Now when I turn on my light, the green trimmer line lights up letting me know the light is on. Works like a charm!

I just look for the light icon on my display. If I need verification, a quick reach to put my hand in front of the headlight. What I worry more about is the tail light.

@ rich c - Unfortunately, my controller doesn't include an icon for the lights and on my 20" folding bike the front light is quite low so it's not possible to put my hand in front of it to check.
But if the front light is on, odds are good so is the rear since they're on the same circuit.
