How does the Nyon determine the elevation changes? I assume it must have a barometric altimeter rather than using GPS (satellites) to determine elevation. I often forget to calibrate the current elevation before starting a ride, so even though I ride the same trails frequently, the displayed elevation on a given trail can vary widely from one ride to the next (by hundreds of feet). The elevation gain on a given route stays reasonably consistent, but the actual elevation displayed varies a lot. Again, I assume this is because of the atmospheric pressure differences on different days and not calibrating the elevation before starting the ride.
For others who use the Nyon, how often do you calibrate the current elevation? Once a day, at the beginning of a ride, etc.? I don't always know the correct elevation at a trail head, so it makes it difficult to know how to calibrate. When I remember, I calibrate it before leaving home since I know the elevation at my home.
