take the nyon off and see if you can turn it off then. if not then its a bad nyon. it should turn off on its own when it does not have power. if it only happens on the bike I would clean the contacts and see if that helps. if it wont turn off off the bike I would try a reset. I want to make sure if you tap the power button on the nyon nothing happens?
I've never seen a "goodbye" on mine. When I finish a ride, I just remove it from the mount.
Sometimes I need to turn it on again to have it finish my ride in ebikeconnect. I just turn it on again, let it synch again, then either hit the power button for a second (hibernate or off? who knows...).

you only get it if you hold the power button in for several seconds. then it fully shuts down. its like it does when you ride the next day it has to boot up again.
