I would like to buy an ohm urban on sale right now because of Bionx receivership. I can't decide if I should pull the trigger or not. They are 1500 off right now. Help?

Ohm use nice components, the question you have to ask is would you be happy cutting off all the Bionx kit and replacing it with a different hub motor wheel, controller, display, and battery if anything goes wrong, Bionx needs all components motor, controller, and battery to be working and talking to each other for the display to power on, so anything goes wrong with one part and you can't diagnose what went wrong or obtain a spare you'll have to replace the lot. The custom battery case may or may not be able to be repacked with replacement cells but I read on this forum you can't do this yourself as the cells need to all be wired up and talking to the BMS individually, you might want to check with Nethers if they will be able to continue rebuilding Bionx packs, and a generic replacement battery won't work with the Bionx system or fit on the custom frame battery mount, this is the problem with closed proprietary systems once the manufacturer goes bust. Buy an ex-demo from Crazy Lenny's instead.
I wouldn't buy one, and I love a bargain! If you are very knowledgeable about electrical work, or maybe have a connection on someone who could work on it, maybe. What happens if the motor quits in a year? I had a Bafang hub motor fail at 1,600 miles. No bargain if it's not useable.
Have you ridden the Ohm and compared it to other e-bikes, or are you just wanting to buy it because you're interested in getting an e-bike and the Urban happens to be it $1500 off? Personally, I would be very hesitant to spend a still-significant amount of money on a product that likely will have no service support.
Although I haven’t heard definitively that BionX is going out of business and not just in receivership I would imagine there are enough parts around that support should be able to continue for several years or more.
Ohm isn’t going anywhere it seems and are ok about backing up their products. Big thing to consider is after sale support from a reputable dealer that is relatively near by.
