Went into local Target the other day, and ironically they had toilet paper, but no bikes. Tires, tubes etc picked over too. Looked like the early days of Covid-19 when toilet paper shelves were empty.

I'd imagine the same is happening at bike shops around the country, especially kids bikes. Havent check walmart or anywhere else. Don't have time, but just took a peek at Target while I was there.

Strange world we are living in.

Yes they are all sold out here in all our bike shops and our Walmart too. Keep looking up! Ken.

Bikes shops in Mpls have sold 9 months worth of bikes in 6 weeks!
My wife was just saying yesterday how glad she was we bought bikes last fall/winter.
Sure glad I pulled the trigger on my EMTB when I did!

along with all the other reasons people are more interested in biking at the moment, perhaps part of it is that traffic is down in most places, I hope people like the change and love their bikes and when things eventually get busy again they are more motivated to invest in cycling and hiking friendly infrastructure

I have my doubts about that happening here. Traffic is back to normal, it just isn't parking downtown right now. The light at the busy intersection once again has a backup. It's much more "cool" to drive a diesel pickup.

Same here. My Target had one poor lonely little girl's pink bike left. And 28 empty bike racks.
Maybe they can't restock because most bikes are made in China?

And my local bike shop said they had never sold this many bikes in such a short time frame---ever!!

I don't think this is traffic-related. Many people don't work now, they are on forced vacation, have nothing to do, city parks and trails are full all day long, even on weekdays. Also, disrupted supply chain until China reboots.

In my neighborhood, I'm seeing way more family groups out on bikes. Mom, dad, kids, the neighbors kids... Many of the bikes look very shiny. I'm guessing brand new.

And my LBS reopened just a few days ago but was immediately inundated - to the point they say they are booked for service well into June.
