Bike stolen, battery left behind. Uses or sale?

Hi, I'm new here, looking to buy a new ebike soon, but before I do, I need some advice, which I'll detail another time.

My post today is because I had my last ebike (an EBCO UCR-60, which I loved) stolen from my locked shed, along with my mountain bike, but they didn't take the battery as it was inside, being charged.

It's had fairly light use, really, as I cycled on medium power at maximum, more often on lightest assist. The bike had one done 7000k

The battery itself is a BL15 TranzX 36v 11AH 396Wh

It still had the charger.

My question is, is it worth selling and how much should I ask? I know the batteries are one of the most expensive components, and I don't know if the cells can be taken out and used in other packs or whatever.

I'd like to make some money from it ton go towards my next bike but, equally, if it could be used as an extender, that would also be an option.

The EBCO battery is the type, that if one had the rack or mounted it in a bag, could be re-used on a DIY ebike, You might see if anyone on the UK pedelecs forum would want to buy it. Used packs have little resale value, by the way.

Quick google says they're about 500 to buy brand new.

EBCO say "Average effective battery life 12,000 to 15,000 miles of riding". At 7000k miles its done about half its life. So worth £250.

Then you have the unknown factor about these batteries.... Take 50% off that.

I'd expect £125-150 at best but I wouldn't be surprised if its much lower.

They don't have great value in reuse. Selling as cells is selling for scrap value. Much better to sell as a working battery - so long as you can find a buyer.

IMO if you’re going to get another ebike, I’d try to use it as a spare. Batteries are hard to come by these days!

I don’t know but I meant if you got a similar or same bike.

I'd keep it only if I planned on using it frequently. If it's only going to be an "extra" or if you rarely need to take it with you for fear your stock battery won't have enough range, then sell it.

It's going to degrade nearly as quickly just sitting there as it is when in active use.
