Best Airtag holder?

Hi, looking to mount a couple of airbags to my bike. I am going to trail one in the lockable battery compartment. I know that this will limit the distance that it will be picked up but the fact that it is inside the battery compartment will mean it is difficult to remove.
I am also wanting to put another on the bike somewhere, but dont want to use what I see are the obvious locations - under the seat, in a reflector or on the bottle mounts. But, if they can be secured to the bike with a Torx bolt, I could either replace the bolt with a security headed bolt, or round the head.
This is just to make it more difficult for the thief to get them off quickly and allow me time to get to the bike.
Any suggestions?

PS, why are all the Airtag holders shaped just like an Airtag - the shape should be disguised IMHO!

I taped one inside my middrive housing while I was doing a SpeedBox install. I didn’t do the “speaker removal mod” but it would take a lot of work to get to it and disable it so I’m good with that.

I don't get these air tags. Apparently they are very easy to know one is around you. I watch a news report that was on a young girl who found one on her car. Someone had put it there to follow her. She said she had no idea there was one on her car until she looked at her phone and it was notifying her that there was an air tag close to her. So she searched for it and found it.

So wouldn't any thief just have to look at his phone to know that there is one on the bike he just stole. I mean I guess they are all right if you get on them as soon as they take it. But I would think a thief would be able to find it right away and destroy it with a few minutes after taking the bike.

Airtags are not made to be or marketed as a theft recovery device. They are meant to be used for recovering "lost" items. But having said that, they are effective at least for a period of time. I'm not sure how much time needs to elapse or how much distance an airtag must "follow" a person's mobile device but it's been proven to be "findable" if the owner is aware of the loss within a certain time period.

they could be by having a stolen mode where they only notify your account. but legally its not a good thing as people will use it and then use apple when something goes wrong.

I'd really like a notification when any item changes location that's not within a half mile of where I left it. I think that would be super useful but it's likely against the "anti-stalking" protocol that Apple has baked in to the device.

Tile had that but when I tested it I was 2 miles away before I got an alert.

I just received a 4-pack of adhesive tag holders yesterday. They’re $7.49 with the discount code. I’ll be using them so I can hide my tags a bit better. Right now, I just have them in map pockets in our vehicles. Not very secure.

Thanks all, its just an fallback plan in case the bike does get stolen. I plan on putting a dummy under the seat and a couple elsewhere on the bike. Possible one in the battery housing if I can still connect.

For whatever it's worth, I put an AirTag into a Pelican brand holder that has 3M adhesive backing inside the motor compartment of my Allant 9. There's adequate room on the rear side of the cavity after you remove the motor shield. It holds well and is completely invisible to an untrained eye, plus it slows down a would be thief from easily removing it. Sure it'll be a pain to swap out its battery at some point but I'd rather it be difficult to get to than not.

I read somewhere that the bike metal would work as a Faraday cage and the AirTag won't work. Do you get a good signal?
