Bbs02 48V on 29er - front chainring size?

I have 29er Cube acid MTB and bbs02b kit for it. Now I'm wondering what size front chainring should I get. I drive mostly on roads. And I have 10 speed 11-36 cassette. Is 48t front chainring too much?

Hi,
That size likely depends on variables:
Total Weight, terrain, your pedaling preference, average ride distance
Take two ?

BBS02 W/ 44T CR works very well on my 26' @52V

I'm 85kg and bike is 23kg. Also I ride mostly on paved roads and it's quite flat here.

I guess it really depends on how fast you want to go and how hard you want to work. Assumimg all gears are useable it would seem that you have a speed range of about 15 to 48km/h at a cadence of 80 with the 48. I think a 44 is likely a better bet for all round use but it is not going to be a day and night kind of thing.

I have a 29er with a rear hub GMAC motor, and I recently changed from a 42T front to a 48T and I found it made quite a difference in being able to use the rear sprocket gears more efficiently in an 11-36T rear cassette. With the 42T front I was only using the 3 or 4, maybe 5 smallest gears on the back. With the 48T front I'm now using 7 or 8 gears, but I have never used the 36T on the rear or the ring that comes next to it. There's just no need for the 2 large rings when you have power at your fingertips. What I like best about the 48T is that you don't feel like you are maxing out when pedaling on the flat or slightly downhill as you do with the 42T ring. I got a SunLite dual chainguard setup where the crankarm is permanently bonded to the 48T ring. That way they can keep the chainline to 45 mm. I only use the front chainguard and threw away the rear guard (not enough room). As it is, there is less than 2 mm clearance on the 48T ring and the chainstay. If you cut a chain guide in half, you can use it quite effectively as a rear chainguard.
