Battery market update, not just ebikes anymore...

Interesting article Art, thanks for posting.

I wish the published metrics applied to e-bike batteries though. For instance, Exhibit 2 shows battery energy density doubling since 2015. I have been an e-biker for most of that time and I have not seen this in bike batteries. The same exhibit also shows a slight decrease in battery cost per KWh during the same period. I have not seen this either.

Unfortunately, the increase in battery "quality" alluded to in the article must be specific to the automotive industry and not e-bike batteries.

Encouraging stats overall though.

If the chart in that article is correct, the little tiny bar on the extreme left is all 2 and 3 wheeled vehicles lumped together , a mere drop in the ocean really.
Since everything in home electronics seems to come with a li-ion battery now, you should see price drops for ebikes too.
Hopefully ... Real Soon Now.
I still need to buy a couple of big batteries for home power backup, but supply lines are still screwed up for any well reviewed brands of lithium iron batteries.
The tech side may be amazing, but the markets haven't kept up.

The unchanging sliver over the past few years is for electric buses.

The more maroon bar (right above the yellow) is for 2/3 wheelers. :)
