Battery and Charger woes

I brought my battery into the house for the last few months with a 70% charge. I installed it on my bike the other day and it was dead. Put it on the charger for a few hours and the charger is also dead. I sure hope I didn't brick this battery. Will it come out of its sleep with proper charge ? Also, should I spring for the Cycle Satiator , if I only have the one battery ? Thanks

Gonna depend on the BMS for your battery I would think. What brand is it? Sounds like the battery is in sleep mode, which is common with a lot of the BMS out there. Should awaken the battery when you apply the charger but if your charger is dead??? Do you have a volt meter? If you do I would verify the charger is operational and I would then also measure the battery voltage.

I tested the charger and no voltage. Both lights stay on.

You should have DC volts out of the charger at the plug. You have to be careful when you check, don't let your probes slip in the plug. Mine is for a 48v DC battery and reads 58v DC output at the pins.

It reads zero. It's toast.

It's a 48v 20ah, so it's pricy. I had no idea that it would discharge that much over the winter. I thought I was Ok because I brought it in the house. Fingers crossed !

I don't think it's toast.
My hunch is that it went into hibernation mode. Most of the good packs have a smart BMS that puts the cells to deep sleep mode.
I am not sure what BMS Roshan is using but I am sure the situation will be taken care of.

Received the new charger and no response from the battery. Charger shows green light . Would resetting the BMS by disconnecting it for a minute be a viable approach ?

Can you bring the battery & charger to a bike shop & let the pros check it out? It sounds like it's toast to me. Relying on the BMS to protect the battery from severe voltage drop is never wise.

About the same each way. Less than a volt.

Is battery discharge port voltage greater with charger connected or does it remain the same as when disconnected? If there is an increase (on average I see 1 to 1.5 v difference when charging) then it would appear charging is taking place. To what degree and affect would then be the question. I am still curious what the current pack voltage is as that is a good tell of battery charge status.

It turned out to be a bad BMS. I sent it back to Biktrix and they are taking care of it.

Talk about bad luck. What are the odds of a charger and a BMS failing at the same time. Chances are, one failed and took out the other in the process. It's good you replaced both.

Sure beats replacing the battery completely !
