Batteries - simple question

Simple question:

... Much discussion about batteries and low temperature use and charging dangers, how do the many Hybrid and Electric cars manage ?

have fun

No experience, but I'll bet they are affected as our ebikes are. I think they may have built in heaters as well.

Some have built in battery heaters which kick in during cold temperatures while others turn off the cooling circuits allowing the battery to warm up.

My Samsung mobile phone had a circuit that prevented it from charging when the battery was frozen. Most bikes don't have this. I once bought a Segway of Ninebot scooter battery that had that feature.

As mentioned. Tesla has preheaters. In fact one technique is to plug it in at least a half hour before driving so the batteries and cabin both preheat. Same preheater used before charging I would presume.

Tesla uses active heating and cooling of the battery pack to maintain optimum temperatures.

As the owner of three Toyota hybrids, I can tell you that they get about 10 mph less in the dead of a Midwest winter than they do in midsummer. Never had a problem with any of the actual batteries.

Funny how a Tesla for example has super advanced BMS heating or cooling its battery prior to charging.... but what e-bikes could easily incorporate would be a user defined charge limit setting say 80% with a full charge program for tomorrow 100 % at 7:45 am.
A refusal to charge while too cold or hot
These will be some of our future features
Cheers

These features will come as the eBike market matures in the next 3-5 years... it took Tesla a decade to get here! ;)

Agreed....
But Tesla had everything I mentioned from day 1
Future e-bikes are going to be far out man
The 2009 Roadster did not have the advanced features... we had to wait for the 2012 Model S. ;)
I agree that the future Ebikes will be very interesting... I'll try to link to the other thread on this topic.
