Bafang SWX02 hub motor pretty dead. Get some help here?

i posted this first on the Bafang subforum but i think it'll get more traction (haha) here. if so, i'll go delete the other thread. meanwhile ....
So, I'm trying to figure out why the motor doesn't run. sometimes it'll give a little jerk forward but then nada. i don't think it's the throttle or the battery/controller, since i have another scooter with the same set up and it'll run just fine hooked up to this scooter's electronics. i've opened the motor but don't know what to test or try next. Looks like the main wire out might be cut but I'd have to go more into the inside to see for sure. any way to test things before i dive any deeper? i have a multimeter but am not sure how to use it so if you know of any appropriate videos, feel free to share. i did a bunch of looking and couldn't find any that seemed to fit the bill. thanks!

yup, already ordered one. now i have to source a cable to convert the waterproof plug to stuff the tester can use. only one i can find on amazon so far isn't on prime and i don't trust things i can't return, esp since this one has no reviews. thanks, tho, for the suggestion.

well, i got the tester and adapted a cable to fit and thought it best to try it out on the bike that works first, so i hooked things up and ... musta done (dumb) something wrong, because two seconds later, that motor went and died. now i've got 2 dead motors instead of just one. i'm so mad i could spit. right now, i gotta go take a nap. crap!
