Bafang M620 Question

I’m sure this has been covered but I couldn’t find the answer to this question. I’ve seen references to the M620 coming in two versions, 750W and 1,000W, and I’ve seen references implying that there’s only one version of the motor and the user can set it to either 750W or 1,000W (at least with some controllers, perhaps not all?).

The reason I ask is that I’m looking at a bike for my wife that comes with the M620. It’s advertised simply as 1,000W, not 750W/1,000W. So I’m not sure if this is easily configurable to limit it to 750W if we choose.

She’s not the best rider and I’m just not comfortable putting her on a 1,000W bike. 750W with customizable PAS settings maybe…

If it's a UART version you'll be able to program it as timid as you like.
If it's the CANBUS version there's not much you can change.
So you need to find out which communication protocol it comes with.

I THINK the default setting for both UART and CANBUS versions is 30a max - making them 1000w (+) motors. I have seen mfg's selling CANBUS with a 750w rating too, but I'm pretty sure there's a wink involved in that transaction? There SHOULD be a note referencing the fact they're sold for off road purposes only..... unless advertised as a 750w. To the best of my understanding - Al

"When ebike companies talk about a motor power, there is no standard at all for whether this is a continuous power rating, a peak output power rating, or a peak input power rating, or something stamped on the product for legal compliance...
