Aventon Aventure M

Was just reading up on this bike. It’s been out for a few months, and I wonder if anyone has gotten one and/or written any review(s) on EBR about it.

Aventon has applied their (A100) mid-drive motor to a fat bike. I’m not sure if any other manufacturer is making a fat bike like this anymore. And this one has some really cool, modern features including electronic derailleur. Also, having an available throttle is cool and unusual for a mid-drive.

It’s nice to see Aventon taking the lead here since Juiced and (now) Rad have bowed out of the game. I, for one, am happy to see continual development and innovation in this space.

Well, I guess I found the EBR stuff on this beast. Written report is below. The video seems to be on youtube, also linked below.

Aventon has maybe found a profitable market segment. With luck this bike will tic the boxes for many buyers, and they will make some money. Which seems to be a rarity nowadays for ebike companies.

The fatties we sold off were analog. Let's see how the spring season goes, as we are an Aventon dealer.
We’ll see how Fättie holds up for the next while, Chris. You may have a customer down the road. :) This Aventure M looks like a very cool bike.

Yeah, I read your post that you sold off all the unassisted fat bikes.

Well, we’ll see, Mike. Aventon may end up being the only (innovative) player/maker in this market soon. What will be interesting is to see what Lectric does with the Juiced brand. I hope they bring back innovation to fattys. The 20” fatty space is still pretty crowded and a lot of bikes are out there currently, but 26” has been on a downslide (it seems) for a while now.

It is an insult to Americans. Heavy, fat, and lazy stereotypes reinforced. It is designed for 400 pounders not cyclists. It does not belong on a mountain and I do not know where it belongs. Maybe a trailer park in Florida.

There are, in fact, 400 lb Americans out there. I have a friend who fits the description (although he is not lazy) and I would love to get him on a bike. But I don't think this would be the bike for him. Maybe some type of trike. When you weigh that much and take a fall, it's not going to end well.

It is true that any movement is better than sitting on a couch. I have not sat on a couch for about a dozen years. It is like smoking. If you get him on a trike have him do figure eights in a vacant parking lot for 20 minutes a day for three days. Then he will get the hang of it. Then turn him loose on to protected bike paths. And steal his TV. After a week have him do figure eights on a gentle slope. And he is set.

He has a nice bike path a few hundred yards from his house right on the bay. I have got him out walking on it a few times, but he is not real motivated to go out by himself. The TV isn't his problem. He is a workaholic and works at a computer. Unfortunately he is an hour drive from where I am working right now, so I don't get up there that often. Plus I go home to Southern California for half the month.

I have a friend in a nursing home who is out of shape and uses a walker. I visit him and his roommates a couple of times a week and bring small gifts and show them new bike builds. I also get him on a pedal assist throttle bike a couple of times each week just to get him moving. You still need to use your core balance muscles and get out in the air and see some nature.

Well, we know what you don’t like! Hater! :D :D
