The whole crowdfund thing seems to have stopped, for now, with ebikes.

A lot will depend on the Sondors bike.

Wasn't PCMag recently invited to one of those promo events held by a prominent manufacturer of mid-drives?

Yeah, I know... I shouldn't connect those dots. But I can't help it...

Anyway, I hope the e-bike crowd funding thing will live on and mature a bit. There probably needs to be more accountability for people to take it seriously. I'm not really a prime candidate as a buyer, but this technology should be available to all. The more e-bikers, the better.

Ebikes may be easier than the items in the article. One can hope. There's a rather odd ebike over there now, with 4 lead acid batteries, claiming a 35 mph speed. I'll make you all hunt it down, if interested. It was on Kickstarter and I believe it failed.

The title of the thread made me laugh out loud. I don't think PC Magazine is the highest journalistic standard, but thanks for the mirth, and it's a pretty good article too!

It mentions campaigns manufacturing enough product to send out to reviewers, but not enough for the actual purchasers. I've been suspecting that's one possible scenario for the Sondors campaign.
