Anyone buy a returned bike from Ride1Up?

I signed up a couple of days ago at Ride1Up to be notified of any bikes that come back for return : https://ride1up.com/open-box-discounts/

A day later I got an email about two bikes, both 700's that were available. They are offering 200 off and the bike is as I am told, New, never out of the box but had been delivered to a customer that had changed their mind. I am waiting on an invoice and pictures, and keeping my fingers crossed that everything is above board. I am curious if anybody else has bought one of these returned bikes or am I the first to post about it?

What I am being told is that they changed their mind due to financial considerations. I asked for some pictures of the bike/box since it is supposed to be NIB, never opened.

I'm struggling with the "as-is" piece. 200 off for as-is shipping scrapes and bangs, or 200 off as in no warranty at all? 200 off for no warranty at all would be a non-starter here, and I do all of my own work.

I am being told the bike is as new, was never out of the box, has full warranty. Customer decided they did not want it. I have the same doubts as you, but I am waiting on some pictures as well as a final invoice from R1U. I probably would have gone with a new 500 series otherwise. Price differential would be 160 but this gets me a bike that is priced about 400 more normally.

Sounds good actually but really kind of curious why they wouldn't just put it back in with the regular stock if there are 0 problems.

The bike is not at their warehouse, it is at the buyers address. What they are trying to do is have it shipped only once, rather than bring it back to Nevada and then ship it again.

So I jut got another email saying the owner of the bike decided to keep it. Oh well. All this has caused me to look at the fine print on the return process for these companies. In R1U case, if you never take it out of the box they will charge you 250 to return it. If you cancel the purchase after the credit card has cleared, then they will charge you 2.5% that they say they cant get back from the credit card company. Now if you open the box and assemble the bike and then tell them that within 30 days you dont like it then they will not charge you the 250. But then you have to either work with them to sell it locally or have to repack it so it fits in the original box.

That sounds about right. I had originally ordered a 700 in Apr. of 2020. Later I got concerned regarding delivery due to covid affecting shipments. Rad happened to still have one Rover ST in stock at that time so I bought it. It cost me a little under $50 to cancel the 700. The Rover and other dealings with Rad have worked out so well since then that the $50 loss was not remotely a problem.

I'll put this out in case anybody is interested. I got another email on Friday offering me a new Lmt'd with some minor cosmetic damage. Its the gray frame, hasn't been assembled yet. I passed on it since I had a lead on a Himiway that I got for a much cheaper price. But if you sign up for their discounted bikes list, it might still be available. This was the only picture they sent me of the bike. It can be yours for 1600 delivered.
