I am wanting to know if its possible to install the Nyon controller and upgrade the bike to DI2 shifting? I would like to use the Bosch eshift technology. Is there a way to power the DI2 components from the bike battery? Has anyone done this yet and is there an easier option? Thanks for your help.

You would have to go to drop bars so all new shifting and braking. The nyon is not a issue it’s easy to do. I sought you could go with as small of a rotor as you need for road bike brakes. Plus I don’t think you could do 10 speeds though I don’t know or the gear range ? I am in bed so I can check.

I am not sure why we I would need to go to drop bars. Shimano offers DI2 shifting in MTB XT and XTR. From what I understand I just need the shifter, derailleur, and interface box. I just would like to verify that with someone to make sure there are not any pitfalls I may be missing.

You don't need to go drop bars. As you mentioned, Shimano makes a Di2 Shifting kit for a flat bar setup. I love Di2 (have it on my carbon road bike) but it sure is pricey.
As far as I know Di2 has it's own battery and can't be connect to the bike's electrical system.

I thought it was only the drops. Humm. but I hadn't to looked at high end mountain bikes

a couple of bikes have better com potents like the diamondback union 2 and the cube kathmandu hybrid 45 625 i can get both locally. but without a the duel battery option the cost would really be high for another battery. I have three 500 external batteries right now.

Just got my new bike and the wiring in place works for the nyon but the remote is different so the holder and remote have to be replaced. but my nyon worked with no changing to it so it will go between bikes with no problem.
