advanced chargers for e-bikes?

Another hobby of mine and I'm sure some other members too is electric RC airplanes. We use lithium batteries to power our brushless motors.. For us, there is a wide selection of advanced chargers available where we can set the charge rate, monitor the voltage of each cell in the pack, set various balancing rates, check internal resistance of each cell in the pack etc. etc... More importantly these chargers have a "storage mode" which will either charge the pack up to approx. 50% or DISCHARGE the pack to 50% to miminize loss of capacity and decrease thermal runaway/fire risk when the battery is left for long periods of time... I haven't come across any advanced chargers for e-bikes but surely there must be something out there besides the very basic chargers most bikes come with?

Check out Grin technologies Cycle Satiator. It has the sorts of functions you describe, as well as other functions. I think @Ravi Kempaiah did a post about them a while back.

Luna also makes chargers that have some features to do partial charging, but I heard somewhere on this forum that they've had reliability problems, so check their warranty if you are interested (and also do a search on the forums to find the discussion on them). I have no first-hand experience with these products.

I use the very low tech method of using a timer so that I don't fully charge my battery.

I should have searched before I posted... Nothing wrong with using a timer but it's nice to have a way to monitor each cell in the battery pack

There's good battery discussions here...most battery life optimization can be achieved cheaply...they like to be charged slowly, and a cheap timer will keep a battery properly filled, if you know the optimum charge and storage parameters.

Basically operate in the 20-80% range, and store at 50%.
