Adding range to the Voltbike mariner

I am trying to figure out ways to add some range to the voltbike mariner before I buy it. I have read a lot of reviews on range from people - but none based on purely using the throttle. First off, it would be nice to know the range of this bike based purely on using the throttle. In addition, it would also be nice if anyone could confirm whether I could use a battery like this in tandem with the stock battery and if not, could I just use the battery quoted below, it has twice the capacity and would surely be nice to get a range close to the 50 - 60 KM range full throttle.

"In tandem", both at the same time? You have to wire them in parallel, and they'd better be of the same capacity.
Maybe consider getting a battery of the same form-factor as your original one, and carry it as a spare.

In pure throttle, your range maybe 15 miles (24 km). Why ruin a brand new ebike by messing up the electrical system? You are going to put custom battery mounting that will completely occupy the rear rack, you will need extra parallel circuit wiring, dangling around that will destroy the appearance of your ebike, you will need to disconnect the batteries every time you recharge them separately, and you would need different charger for the 2 batteries. For me, the extra mileage is not worth the hassle and inconvenience. If I plan to have longer rides then I would just carry a spare factory battery. If you pedal a little bit, then your battery may take you 20-25 miles (32-40 km). So 2 batteries can take you 50 miles (80 km) ride.

Hmm thanks for the input. I ended up going for a 2017 dualtron ultra. A little bit more money, but with a 100KM plus range on one charge for roughly $1000 more. It seems like a better fit for me.

2017 dualtron ultra is an interesting choice. For a stand up scooter, it's too heavy for my taste at 81 pounds. How far do you travel every day? How often do you travel 100 km at a time? How long can you keep standing up while riding far distances?

It has a seat option. Its just for fun. I just like the idea of not being limited by a battery. 100kms is a great feature

... and, - what are going to do if electric system poops out? With this weight and no pedals you will need a pickup truck and a loading ramp, to get back home. Even if it's 10 km away.

I lift over 80 pounds daily at my job doing road construction. I can easily lift it into the back of my suv if I run into troubles - ill just lock it up to something close to where I broke down and walk back home to get my escape. There are many people on the dualtron forms saying they have went 5000kms with no issues - that's with older generations of this device seeing this one just came out, but still it illustrates that it is a good product . This company has been in business for 16 years. Plus you would hope for almost $4000 Canadian shipped it will be a sold ride.
