Just in case anyone might like bulletproof Schwalbe Marathon Plus in 700c sizes, Bike Tires Direct email notification just informed me that for the next eight hours the Marathons are $33.99.

(I am not tire shopping, myself, because I bought a pair of Michelin Protek Urban 700c x 38 from BTD just last week, to install on a Juiced Cross Current S bike arriving (we hope) in early November.)

Thanks! I run the 700c on my Yamaha and they have indeed been near indestructible. Wish I had kept a diary on how many years I have had this set on the bike. But it has been years and there will likely be some failure, dry rot, or something soon. They have outlived my highest expectations. At that price, I shall march over and purchase my next pair.

Is there any articles on the internet that compares kevlar-lined tires vs regular tires vs slimed tires? That lists the pros and cons of each type?

Google is tremendous for honing in on just what you want to research, and even better if one avails oneself of the tools Google provides to narrow one's search. My personal experience is that Slime and similar tire additives are somewhat helpful at plugging up small punctures, but at least with Slime it is best to not depend on the Slime keeping the puncture at bay for an extended period. For me, the puncture always worsened to the point where after thirty miles or so, the small puncture then grew bigger and the Slime then couldn't handle now bigger tube flaw. So I consider Slime more of a temporary aid until one can get home and fix the flat properly.

I have used lots of regular tires in my life and they can vary widely in how good they are at preventing sharp objects from penetrating. These Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires are far and away the best I tires I have ever seen at preventing flats. There are cons to consider. They do not roll as well as it seems they should. There are many tires that give a better ride and more comfort. They are also notoriously difficult to mount on most rims. You will find lots about that and little tips to help the process if you google the topic. I just about gave up the first time I mounted one on a rim. But it does get easier as one does it more often. Just saying that I never had much of an issue getting any tire on a rim until I met the Marathon Plus. But if you value virtually never having to deal with flats, then the Schwalbe Marathon Plus should positively be on one's radar.
