A handlebar riser does make for a more comfortable ride-for me

I'm 5'8" with a 29" inseam and wanted to try a different riding position. I bought this from Amazon:

Wake Bike Stem Riser Bike Fork Stem Extender Bicycle Handlebar Raiser Head Up Adapter Suitable for Mountain Bike, Road Bike, MTB, BMX, Fixie (Aluminium Alloy, Adjustable, Black).

Feature:
Adjustable height:
max 2.7 inch (0 - 70mm)
Fork stem diameter: 1-1/8 inch (standard)
Weight: 7oz
Material: Forged 6061 aluminium alloy

Originally I considered an adjustable but didn't need any forward move. Gotta report I'm very happy with this selection. It almost puts me straight upright. It's worth a try
I have that same extender and went even higher and back to bring the bars toward me making it more like a motorcycle. Very comfortable. The handlebars are made by Jones Bikes in Ashland Or. Double bars that are super strong, very light aluminum. Great improvement in comfort. for arms and shoulders.

Which bike are you trying to be more upright on? That would make it easier for people to recommend something.
Hi, i need to raise my handlebar about 5-6", lectric xpeak 2.0. not sure if there are stem risers that would would manage the height without introducing new safety issues. Perhaps I should just replace the handlebar with the curved bell one to compensate for those needed inches. Wdyt?

There’s a lot to getting a bike to be comfortable for you, @lectricus .. Bars might help, but your frame geometry might not leave you in a comfortable riding position. Anyway, it’s worth trying.

FYI, This is the high-rise bar on my Juiced RipCurrent. It’s a relaxed geometry fat-tire bike which is wonderfully comfortable for me. I tried many things to get my old-school mountain bike to be comfortable for me to ride, but couldn’t make it work.

I used a similar stem riser. Also changed the handlebars. I forget the math, but I gained about 3 inches.

When shopping for an e-bike, I wasn't able to find one with everything I wanted. I eventually found one with most of my requirements except the handlebars. The OEM bars were the "moustache" back swept cruiser style which were too low and quite uncomfortable.

After some experimentation, I replaced them with 2.5" rise Jones H bars. I added this 6" Delta riser that gave me the height I need.

Although quite sturdy, I wouldn't consider this combination for serious downhill or single track though.

The combination has worked well for me since 2018 with only minor tweaks to the height setting.

I did something similar with a stem extender on my MTB… This gave me about 8” additional height on the bar. I also had to replace the front brake cable (this was pre-disk hoses) because it was too short. Looks goofy, but it helped. Not enough, though.

I put a riser and Jones s bar handelbars on my ebike 4 years ago. My back and butt are never sore. Check Jones bikes for the great bars. Very comfy ride.
