I have a 8fun bbs02b thats been fitted for three to four years never had any problems until now, Never use the thumb throttle but I did fit it and that works fine but now when I pedal the motor cuts out and then back in continuously. It has got wet a lot lately! So I wondered if this could be the problem, No gear change cutout fitted and I've checked all the connections and they're dry not and corroded. Do you think this is likely to be the motor controller? Does anyone know how a mid drive pedal movement is detected? I presume this would be separate to the controller? Thanks for looking!

Hi Dave, it might be as simple as the spoke magnet or the wheel speed sensor got out of place? Otherwise if you need to remove it to have it serviced try calling Woosh in Southend to ask if/how much they charge to do a diagnostic.

Internal magnet and ring sensor. you can order the parts and soldier the pc which is inside the unit housing. If I was a betting man I would say it is the controller. Even without the rear wheel sensor in place the unit will run for a short period. You can restart the display and it will repeat this for about 5 min. intervals. On cyc units you don`t need the rear wheel sensor for it to perform without a speed o meter showing. The rear wheel sensor on cyc allows the blue tooth system to operated though. I know you were talking bafang I just threw in the cyc knowledge.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, I've looked at the sensor on the wheel already and the little red light comes on and stays on whilst the wheel is turning with the thumb throttle and when pedaling. I do have an identical setup on another bike so I'm thinking as a process of illumination I'm going to swap the mid drives over to eliminate anything external as the cause!

The light should blink off as the magnet passes.
