3.0 or 4.0?

What are the differences between the Vado 3.0 and the 4.0? What are the differences between the Como 3.0 and the 4.0? And do any of these models have a removable controller?

All Vados and Comos share the battery design, meaning, different batteries can be easily swapped.

These are major differences between 3.0 and 4.0 (Vado or Como):

• Vado 3.0 is equipped with lower torque "economic" 1.2e motor while 4.0 has the state-of-art 72 Nm 1.2 motor (it is 90 Nm on 5.0);
  Strangely, U.S. Como 3.0 is equipped with the stronger 1.2 (72 Nm) motor.
• 3.0 comes with 460 Wh battery while it is 500 Wh one in 4.0. (5.0 comes with 600 Wh battery);
• 3.0 is equipped with older design Quick Release hubs while 4.0 is built with modern Thru-Axle hubs (same as 5.0);
• Componentry on the 3.0 is more budget than found on 4.0. (5.0 comes with high-end components).

Additionally, U.S. Como 3.0 is a Class 1 e-bike while all other Vados and Comos are Class 3.
Vado or Como 3.0 are nice entry-level e-bikes sharing the frame design throughout the model range. In case you live in hilly area, consider Vado 4.0 or Como 3.0/4.0.

Not sure what "removable controller" is. The remote? Display? Not. The remote or the display cannot be removed from Vado or Como.

All Vados and Comos share major features of Specialized Turbo technology:

• Silent mid-drive motor
• Uniform battery form factor
• Excellent connectivity with smartphones and sports wearables such as smart watches and/or heart rate monitors.
• Easy and complete tuning of the motor (dialling in desired assistance levels and battery usage)
• Extensive diagnostic information for the user.

Thanks! That is all the info I need in a nutshell. And by removable controller, I mean the display unit. On my BH Atom Diamond Wave Pro, it just slips off so when you go into a store or wherever, you can just slip the controller into your pocket and even if a thief were to chop your lock, without the controller, it's just a very heavy bike. On my husband's Vado 2, the controller is not removable, and it got scratched when he turned the bike over to work on it. He learned his lesson, but having a removable controller is a nice feature. He's looking to upgrade, mainly to get past the 20mph assist wall.

Chez: The Specialized e-bikes with removable display (and the display is optional there, as you can substitute it with smartphone or a smartwatch) are:

• Vado SL, Como SL (hybrid e-bikes)
• Creo SL (road/gravel e-bike)
• Levo, Kenevo (e-MTB)
• Levo SL, Kenevo SL (e-MTB).

I don't think you would need any of the e-bikes mentioned, though

The mountain bikes probably had it first, then all the SLs used the removable as well, since it worked there. I have two same Model Year Comos and one removes easily , one doesn't.
