2022 Vado 4.0 TCD2 MasterMind Color Display Glass Separating

I have noticed that the bottom right hand corner of the display appears to be separating and it has gotten worse in the past month. Has anyone else seen this problem? Feeling the tolerance between the glass and rubber housing... the glass isn't protruding upwards it seems to be separating internally. If this is just cosmetic I don't care about fixing it... I am just concerned it may be a way for water to enter and ruin the display. No idea if you can just buy a new display and wire it in or if it is more involved. Any advice is appreciated.

I’ve got exactly the same…..bottom right corner. Took bike into local Spec shop last week for their advice and they photographed it to send off to Specialized for replacement authorisation. I wondered if it was a screen saver too but didn’t want to start picking at it in case I made things worse. My bike is only a couple of months old.

Do you know if I can just replace the display, wire it back up, and it will just work, or do I really need to take it to the LBS?
You normally do it via the shop especially when your e-bike is still on the warranty. It is not that you can buy the spare part in any store yet (I think).

It would be different if your ebike were post warranty. You would buy the part via the LBS and let them reinstall the display or you could do it yourself. It would require a little bit of skill from your side.

If this is the screen protector, isn't it enough to rub the glass with your finger to remove the air from beneath the glass?

I tried that and it made it worse. Thanks for the info.

Wondering if anyone has any idea what glue or how the gorilla glass is attached (maybe similar to fixing a smart phone??). It's gotten a bit worse and I would like to try to just fix it. My VADO is my only method of transportation and I would really not like to drop it off at my LBS then walk miles home and "wait" (who knows how long) for them to get around to looking at it and then replace it.

My Vado is in Thursday for its free new bike check up when I hope they will be replacing my display as well. I’ll let you know their opinion and whether Specialized agreed the replacement. Trying to re glue yourself sounds like a recipe for a mess and may well make it less likely that you can get a warranty replacement. There must have been a bad lot if both our bikes have an identical issue.

Thanks I am looking forward to hearing how it turns out for you. Outside of this issue, I have almost 4000 miles on my VADO 4.0 with flawless performance.

The display was successfully changed today…..they had the bike for just 1.5hrs. I didn’t realise that the display and bar control are one unit so that’s new as well. They told me that if it hadn't been done under warranty the cost of parts without labour charges would have been over £500!!! The shop confirmed what Stefan said that the part which is delaminating is a gorilla glass cover that is glued onto the lcd screen but agreed it would only get worse and shouldn’t happen.
I’d suggest that if your bike is under warranty too it’s worth having it replaced while you can….even if it’s inconvenient as possibly having to pay a substantial amount yourself in the future would be somewhat annoying to say the least. I’d send your Sec shop some photos and have them get the part in so you can just wait while it’s installed.

So I was told simply don't worry about it unless I care about cosmetics. Apparently whenever they get in Specialized turbo e-bikes a mechanic actually installs that screen protector and he told me it's just to stop scratches on the real screen and not to prevent water from getting in. He did say he will see if he can order the protector screen separately. If it is like 10 or 20 bucks I would replace it if not I'll just ignore it.
I rode in a severe thunderstorm that even had hail and the TCD is fine.

Oh my lbs offered to update the motor, battery, and tcd firmware this morning too. Now the bike seems much smoother in turbo… not less powerful just better at sensing my effort or lack there of. I am looking forward to seeing how the 80% charge works out.

It worked fine for me on the SL but I resigned from using the feature as I always need all my batteries fully charged :)
Suddenly I have learnt I would go for a 120 km ride tomorrow (on my Vado 6.0). You never know what the future brings!

The difference between our screen delaminating response is surprising isn’t it. For me immediate photos sent by Spec shop to Specialized for warranty unit replacement and for you a completely different solution! At least if you do have a problem with it in future you can refer back to when you initially brought the issue to their attention. I guess it could be that the gorilla glass isn’t dealer installed in UK….is that likely? That must have been quite some storm. I was reading yesterday that a part of Italy had hail up to 12cm….that wouldn’t do our screens (or us) much good!!
