    Rize RX first day

If you still want some bottom end, you might consider an 9/11-40 cassette and a longer chain.

    Rize RX first day

@BlackFlash, I am unaware of your Rize model. However, I can assure you that my 2022 Rize RX has a battery balancer located just below the auxiliary battery plug in the downtube, hidden by the battery connector. I have held it in my hand. One needs to be careful with generalizations.

Need some help with motor symptoms

If you have the hub apart, please post some pictures of the planetary gear carrier. You've already had to do some challenging stuff (security Torx bits) if you've removed the carrier.

    Rize RX first day

The HG CS-HG400-9 cogs are steel. You might be able to wear them out in 200 miles, but it seems unlikely. Have you lubed your chain? If you are having problems shifting up and down the cassette, it could be that your shifter cable needs a bit of adjustment, though skipping in high gear would...

    2022 Rize RX "virtual teardown"

I recently got a 2022 Rize RX, which I really like. I decided to do a "virtual teardown" of the bike to facilitate repair, replacement or upgrades to the bike. I wanted to publish the complete specs of the RX so that other owners or prospective buyers might benefit. There may be errors herein...

Need some help with motor symptoms

Since the motor "runs" but the bike doesn't move, it sounds like it could be an issue with the freewheel pawls in the planetary gear carrier inside the motor. Sticking pawls in that freewheel might cause the symptoms you describe. It is not impossible to take apart geared hub motors and service...

    18650 battery tray

The BMS hooks up to each parallel set of cells in the serial array. in your case, since you have a 9S1P array, it would need 10 connections (across each stage of the 9S array - it looks at every cell in the array). It monitors and balances voltages among the sets when charging (so that one set...

    Fucare Libra

The bottom bracket compartment in this type of ebike can contain a motor controller and maybe a battery balancing circuit.

So, your cells are rated at 2C, which equates to 5.2 amps. The 16 awg copper wire is marginal, but should "work" for that current, at least for a while. You show a 9S1P configuration. 9 cells in series should yield 9x3.7V = 33.3V "nominal", but when fully charged, they will briefly yield 9x4.2V...

    Rize RX first day

The two batteries are plugged into a "battery balancer", which is literally a black box below the socket in the downtube. If it is a lot more than diodes in a Y-connector, I would be a little surprised, but who knows. Regarding mounting tires, when I first put on the Goodyear Transit Tours, they...

    Rize RX first day

If you are commuting on streets, roads or smoother bike paths, you might consider changing out tires to something that has lower rolling resistance than the knobbies on the RX. I put these tires on my RX and they work exceptionally well (plus, they are on sale). The "Sport/ECO" mode is evidently...

    Truing Stand Recommendations

Do you want to build wheels, or simply true up pre-built wheels? The ability to adapt to the myriad of hub widths currently available might impact your choice. In any case, the first $12 I would spend if I were in your shoes would go toward Roger Musson's superlative book on wheel building (and...

Talk me out of a Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Eagle 2

I believe that the Enviolo IGH/CVT is considered reliable. For example, the "Automatique" version is used on the Serial 1 Rush/CTY Speed, a high-end ebike. However, it is somewhat less efficient than a geared drivetrain. Its efficiency is typically rated at ~85%. No idea regarding serviceability.

If you're looking for a commuter, you'll want a rear rack. How about a Rize RX?

    Rize RX valves

So, does anyone know if the 2022 Rize RX comes with "tubeless ready" rims? Or, for that matter, the make and model of the rim itself? Thanks in advance, RX owners.

Rize RX 2021: 52v 12Ah secondary battery upgrade

@jimbocrimbo, good write-up! It looks like you might want to shorten the lead from the battery mount to the Z624 male plug, for safety's sake, or maybe just wrap it around the plug. You (and @Jenny Mao) have answered all my questions regarding this kind of upgrade. I wasted an hour or so...

2022 Rize RX Pro Technical Question

@jimbocrimbo, if you added a 25Ah 52V secondary battery, it isn't from Rize, right? They don't sell one with that much capacity (they only offer a 15Ah 52V add-on battery). So, where did you get your secondary battery, and in particular where did you find the plug for the battery socket at the...

    2022 Rize RX geometry

UPDATE I'd like to preface this update with KUDOS to the Rize Customer Service team. While their email system is a bit confusing (it looks like technical data has to bounce off some outgoing filter before it gets to me), the content has been nothing short of excellent, and frankly exceeded my...

    2022 Rize RX geometry

If you want something done... I took the largest photo of the Rize RX, scaled and measured it in my favorite drawing program (Autodesk Fusion 360), and got these APPROXIMATE values for the Rize RX geometry: Reach: 455 mm Stack: 685 mm Top Tube...

    2022 Rize RX geometry

If I include my paperboy days in Illinois, I've been riding for over 60 years :). And no, I didn't mean to imply that two measurements define a fit, which is why I included the above diagram. Note that the diagram is for the frame and fork only, not the stem, handlebars, etc. The reach, stack...
