Need help with mounting an ABUS Shield Plus 5750 NR Frame Lock (cafe lock) to Trek Allant+ 7S (Stagger Frame)

I had no bosses on my Blix Vika+ for the Abus frame lock so instead used two U-shaped clamps normally used to hold electrical conduit pipe in place. I bent the wings, with the holes for screws, so the clamps fit around the frame on each side and the two holes on each clamp lined up with the...

California bill AB 117 to incentivize ebikes

I like the reference to Thoreau. I sold my car in 2013 and said I would never own another. I am retired (76) making that perhaps easier. I progressed from walking/bus/trolley to push scooter, bike and now ebike/trolley. Living near San Diego means weather is virtually never a concern. With the...

How do you secure your bike?

I use an Abus cafe lock that is bolted to the bike and blocks the rear wheel from turning. My Blix Vika+ folds and when folded I run the Abus extension around a post and then though both wheels and into the cafe lock. To protect the seat suspension post I use a cable which the Abus extension...

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

If I lived in NY City I would never feel comfortable leaving my bike no matter what lock I had. I live outside San Diego and I feel comfortable with a cafe lock. To me place has a great deal to do with the requirement for security. If I was parking at the beach in San Diego I would drag my heavy...

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

That is a good idea. We wear one of those springy colorful wrist bands when we switch off soft water to water plants. Going to get one for when I lock bike and don't fold it.

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

I have a dutch 'cafe' lock from Abus with the extension. I bought a high end Kryptonite lock which is a pain due to weight and wanted something to lock up while at the dentist or doctor's office. I bolted the Abus wheel lock onto the frame so easy to carry. The extension has a ring at one end to...

    Hello from San Diego

I am 76 and a docent at the San Diego Natural history Museum. I commute to the Museum from El Cajon 2 to 3 days a week. I have a Blix Vika+ foldable. I used to take the trolley and ride the last bit to the Museum but decided I would try the ride from home, 14 to 18 miles one way depending on the...

Seeking suggestions for commuter ebike (already tried one)

I am 76 and I have a Blix Vika+ which I ride all over San Diego. It is reasonably lightweight (53 lbs) and has a throttle. It is foldable and has 20 inch tires so easy to throw into the back of an SUV without requiring a bike rack. I ride to and from Balboa Park 2 two to three times a week (14...

    Reducing Weight on Arthritic Hands

CBD oil is also tricky because each brand varies in composition so one brand might work whereas another may not. The observations are anecdotal because clinical trials are very expensive to run and without patent projection, no company is willing to underwrite a trial.

    Battery life

My Vika+ only shows charge in 20% bars so harder to incrementally change riding style and note the effects on battery life. However, going from pedal assist 3 to 2 seems to make a high difference on the same ride. I would like a finer gradation or better yet, an actual readout of the battery...

    Battery life

I am not familiar with your bike (a beauty from the pictures!) and I am interested in battery life so I looked it up. They rate the battery at 34 miles (extreme), 65 miles (good), and 93 miles (ideal. From this, it sounds like your ride was extreme in their books. I can't comment on the Smart...

    Difficulty Selling an eBike

I have a Vika+ which I ride at least 10 miles a day. At least once a week I ride 26 miles roundtrip to Terra Santa over and back on the Mission Trails Summit trail (elevation 820 ft). More than a bike for mostly flat elevation, I think. Thanks

    72 years old, need recommendations

I am 76 and have been riding a Blix Vika+ for 7 months. I understand your concern with selecting an ebike that fits your needs. By choice I don't own a car so use my ebike, the trolley and buses for transport. My considerations were weight, price, ease of mounting (on and off the ebike) and to...

Ariel Rider M or Blix Vika+

I can only comment on the Vika+. Yes, it folds but still a heavy lift at 53 lbs, at least for me. I have taken it up stairs unfolded, which for me was the easier. I like the ride and it makes easy work of the hills in this area. I agree with Pobidz that a second battery is appealing.

    Bike Weight Myth

I liked the Rad bikes but went with a Blix Vika+ because of the weight. I wanted to be able to put the ebike on a bus rack, but even the Vika+ is too heavy for me for that activity.

Retired and 75, should I get an ebike?

I agree with feeling alive while one bikes! Getting on the bike always boosts my spirits. I am a volunteer and docent at the San Diego Natural History Museum. I sed to take the trolley and ride the last mile or so. Decided a few months ago to just ride there. It is 18 miles but what a joy to...

    Hello from El Cajon, CA:

I had been riding a foldable bike for two years but the hills were getting to me so I bought a Blix Vika+ after reading the review in EBR. Only sorry I didn't buy it earlier. I take it on the trolley here but it is too heavy for me to put it in the bus rack. However, because it is electric I...

Retired and 75, should I get an ebike?

I am 76 and bought an ebike at Thanksgiving last year. I had ridden a non-ebike foldable for two years before buying. A Blix Vika+. I live out side of San Diego and the hills were a challenge for me. I have just ridden 12 miles including the bike path over Mission Trails Summit (820 feet) and...
