7 Problems in 14 Days Ownership: 2021 Trek Domane HP Electrical Bike You Should Avoid At All Cost

I have about 500 miles on my HP+. I did have a motor drop-out issue when I took delivery (every now and then I'd hit a bump and the Kiox would turn off), which the shop was easily able to fix by adjusting the battery position. The dealer showed me the service bulletin from Trek for that specific...

Bontrager Lync lighting system on Domane + HP

If you can get your dealer to enable it, you push the button that's sort of wedged between the + and the handlebar to put it in walk mode, then hold down the + to engage the motor. I think it does something like 2-2.5MPH on level ground.

Bontrager Lync lighting system on Domane + HP

I had to take mine back to the dealer so that they could enable this button. From the factory, it did nothing. Exact same with another one that a friend bought. Also had to ask for walk mode to be enabled, as that was also factory-disabled.

    Update on Domane HP ownership

I ran road tubeless on my previous road bike for about 10 years, so I'm accustomed to it cutting down on road buzz and improving cornering confidence. With the Domane already doing such a great job with road buzz, I'm not sure how much improvement there is on that front. There is some, but it...

    Update on Domane HP ownership

I installed the rim strips and pulled the tubes, running the front at 50 and the rear at 55. Nice and cushy.

    Update on Domane HP ownership

You could rotate your Kiox mount down, closer to parallel with the stem, so that the tops of the hoods would contact the ground before the Kiox. And/or remove the screw; the Kiox is not going to come off under normal riding conditions.

Bontrager Lync lighting system on Domane + HP

When the dealer enables the Kiox light on/off button, it will use whatever the last setting was when you powered the Kiox off, rather than always off by default or always on by default.

An Airtag will fit into the motor cover on a Domane+ HP.

If the thief had an iPhone, they would be notified they had someone else's tag with them when they got to their home location. If they didn't have an iPhone, there with be an audio alert from the Airtag after three days. The speaker can be pretty easily disconnected but I just assume the thief...

An Airtag will fit into the motor cover on a Domane+ HP.

It's not perfect, but it's also inexpensive and not useless. Any iPhone (6 and up; for ultra-precise location within the last few feet you need an 11/12) that comes into Bluetooth range will update the tag's location in the FindMe app. https://www.ithinkdiff.com/airtag-thievery-incidents/

An Airtag will fit into the motor cover on a Domane+ HP.

The motor cover is ABS so there isn't any RF interference, or at least it's minimal. On the non-drive side there is plenty of clearance and that's where all the wiring is, so I'm reasonably sure heat won't be a problem. A T20, T25, and some velcro is all you need. In the second photo you can...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

I guess I'm looking for super basic stuff, like which position is most compliant and which is most firm? I also could not find anything on adjusting the front, or if it's even possible.

I wish I could find more information on how to do this.

My updated Trek Domane +HP review - now with 4565 miles on it

I'm curious to hear more about the rear rack battery. Is that a DIY thing and you just wired it in series at the motor or something like that? Any additional detail you could provide would be interesting to read.

    Update on Domane HP ownership

I have about 200 miles on mine now and have it fairly well dialed in, except there is one gear somewhere around the middle of the cassette that's a bit noisy. Not enough that I've bothered to turn the barrel adjuster, but that'll probably do it when I get around to it. About the only thing I...

2021 Domane+ HP, power meter accuracy?

I uploaded both sets of files to DC Rainmaker's analysis tool and there are indeed very large differences in the power data. The Kiox file is TCX format and the Garmin data was captured by a Hammerhead Karoo 2 in BLE mode as a FIT file. At first glance it looks like Bosch samples less...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

I would be so happy if the Kiox could broadcast sensor information via BLE so that it can be used with other cycling computers (Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, etc). Is this something Bosch is considering?

2021 Domane+ HP, power meter accuracy?

Originally I had intended to sell my power meter pedals from my old ride, since the Bosch motor has one built in, but I am seeing a large difference in the data between the two. I'm reasonably sure the pedals are accurate and the Bosch numbers are not. There doesn't appear to be any way for the...
