as i said above, my wife called them when it happened to hers, and they told her to check the screws. she then told me to check them and tighten them, i did 👍 , and 5 months later, it's still fixed. several of the screws in the bat compartment were loose. it was evidently a common problem.

my wife's core5 had the battery pop problem. loose screws was the prob, tightening was the solution. try it again.

fwiw, my bafang bbso2 mid drive will disable the throttle when i go to pas0.

that's actually backwards. pedaling on the level with even pas1 requires next to no effort. using the throttle when you start to feel you need it gives you a better workout.

my wife's ride1up core5 has a thumb throttle that works even if in pas0, which gives her the option to have control over her speed when riding with another ebike

my bbso2 brake switch got me into a crash last week. going thru a 120 degree turn with a rock step in the middle, i tried to brake slide the turn like i would on a dirt bike and i guess i still had a bit of rear brake on when i hit the throttle, which, of course, didn't respond, and i fell over...

i cut a 1/2 inch wide piece from an old mtb innertube and use it on the rear brake. slide it inboard when not in use some of us don't have kickstands

i hear ya. i traded my 96 proflex kitbike with a dd hub for a test ride on my sister-in-law's "small" haibike. almost had to pry me off it when i came to a stop and got wedged between the seat and the top tube. holy cow!

i went the other way and disconnected pas on my vintage kit mtbs. i used to ride both of them a lot until father time got in the way, but i still like to use them as a pedal bike until the going gets too much. pas just rubs me the wrong way, especially since bafang bbs decided if you turned...

my '03 giant ac with the bbs02 and a spacer to bring the 42t bafang away from the chainstay ( i keep wanting to call it a swingarm :rolleyes:), has no problem coming off using an 8 spd derailleur.

the people on bikes who didn't seem friendly didn;t even look in my direction. the one that did wave was truckin', and just lifted a couple fingers. the disappointing ones were the walkers. prob 2 out of 50 responded and one who did gave me a "slow down" motion. (i was doing 12.5 mph)

the wife and i did the prescott peavine trail on 10/3. i was on my diy 1000w hub motor converted '96 proflex mtb, and she was on her ride1up core5. she didn't want to do the smaller hiking trails since it was her first time off asphalt. maybe next time. i was struck by how "unfriendly"...
