    (SOLD) 2016 Stromer 17” ST2S ST2 S for sale greater Boston

This item has been sold. I posted this bike about 18 months ago, but I was having trouble with it (and noted this in the initial ad). However, just over a year ago, I had the torque sensor replaced and upgraded to the latest compatible Omni C unit. Since the repair, the bike has worked...

Issues with "New Code" to pair bike to updated Omni app

Has anyone else had trouble getting your Stromer to issue a "New Code" QR code for pairing bike to Omni app? I've got a Stromer ST2S and my dealer recently replaced my torque sensor. It looks like they also updated the Omni C firmware because I found that my iOS Omni mobile app was not...

Hi - I'm curious if you ever sold your ST2S? I'm thinking of selling mine and wondering how the US Stromer market is these days.

Tips to improve TMM4 torque sensor reliability

Question for this thread. I just cleaned up my TMM4 sensor on my ST2S. I was surprised to see that the fourth screw in the photos above (the one NOT circled in a color) also threads into my TMM4 sensor. The sensor has threads for the rack screw. My ST2S TMM4 sensor definitely has four mounting...

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

While this may be true - when the sensor output randomly jumps from around 1V no load to around 0.2V no load, that’s not sensitivity. That’s an issue. One that neither I nor the Stromer tech support folks have been able to resolve. My suspicion is bad sensor but given the way they are wired it...

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

Yes - I've definitely done this (more than once).

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

Hi ryeo - interesting. I rode my Stromer a few weeks ago and had issues with the torque sensor. These days, I know enough to go into the right secret menu to reset its zero voltage, but this is more than just a shifting output from a sensor. When working, the sensor output is around 1V unloaded...

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

Yeah, that was this bit that I was referring to: "a Stromer TSB (that I’d have to dig up) on lubricating the head mating surface of certain sensor mount bolts. I’ve done it all"

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

@ryeo I’ve had intermittent issues with the torque sensor. I un-installed, cleaned and re-installed the torque sensor. I did receive a replacement sticker but when I uninstalled, that didn’t appear to be a significant issue. There is a Stromer TSB (that I’d have to dig up) on lubricating the...

@pmags - congrats, when I was researching bikes a year ago I LOVED the Domane HP+. Enjoy!

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

@rdv - I would be a little cautious about your power math. I tested the SL1.1 motor as well as the latest from Bosch (Gen 4 or something - can’t remember the details since it has been about a year since I was in research mode) and eventually ended up with a used Stromer and its 500W nominal /...

    Thoughts on best power meter

@Spicule yes, I believe so, and that was my hope / plan. However, I struggled to find a crank arm / spider power meter that was compatible with my ST2S. And I did not want to put ”roads” cleats on my Stromer. Garmin now has the Rally-line of pedal-based power meters, so those will probably work...

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

Thanks @Ravi Kempaiah - I pulled the rear wheel and cleaned up the sensor a bit. The sticker is starting to peel off (ordered another one from Stromer USA). It is handy to know the service menu secret handshake as now I can at least check on it if things are acting up.

More torque sensor issues ... suggestions?

I posted about a torque sensor issue I had back in early March here: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/torque-sensor-question.41234/ Yesterday, I encountered a similar, but different, issue. After the March issue, I have made a practice of calibrating the torque sensor before almost...

    Torque sensor question

@bluecat your final analysis is not correct. If the speed drops from 39 km/h to 20.7 km/h and the total power (300 W = 200 W motor plus 100 W rider), then the torque must increase. So the RPM will have dropped by 20.7/39 = 53% of its previous value and the torque must increase by that same...

    Torque sensor question

"Now ask him to change the assist levels, but keeping the 100W own power. As a result, he will be faster or slower" - correct. If assist is increased, rider will be faster. If assist is decreased, rider will be slower - holding all other variables constant. "and with the formula above, his power...

    Torque sensor question

“The RPM are not a given value, its variable which can change independently from the other values in the equation.” Ah @bluecat but it is a known value. It is a direct drive motor so RPM is locked to bike speed (unless the rear tire is slipping). In the case of the ST2S, the 26” x 2.0” tires...

    Torque sensor question

Thank you @Johnny. It’s funny because my whole drive home I was thinking about the fact that my Stromer tends to add 500-600 W (on average) to my ride. With my missing 2*Pi that would have been over 100 N-m, and I knew the motor couldn’t do that.

    Torque sensor question

Ooops! Missing 2*Pi (Thanks to @Johnny for the correction.): 8 N-m at 300 rpm is NOT 250 W. It is more like NOT 40 W. 300 rpm is 5 rps so 8 N-m at 5 rps is just 40 N-m/s. Multiply by 2*Pi to get 251.3 W. This is what I get for trying to do math in a ski resort parking lot ;) And I think you...

    Regen question

Thanks for the detailed feedback all. I have been meaning to try a few hills without the battery and see what it is like. I know that there is a short steep hill up to my house, and I have tried to climb that hill without assist, and I’ve quit each time :( @Johnny - how would you go about...
