Generic MD 1000 and HD 750 ebike model discussion

Well crud............... just tried to order the Northern Tool bike rack and it initially says it is in stock but when you try to check out it removes from the cart and says it is discontinued. I may have to make one. :(

    Wobbly rear wheel

Good advice. I will be keeping an eye on them. The front tire stayed tight but the rear loosened up. When I did tighten the spokes there was resistance in tightening so it does not appear they are loosening by backing out the threads but likely seating in the rim or hub.

Police - questioning the power rating of your E-bike? or Ticketing you?

I have the MD1000 fat tire hunting bike. I got it to be able to climb the steeper BLM bike trails. It has the dual batteries built into the frame and large mid drive motor. I am "altering" it by setting the controller to 20 mph which also sets the wattage at 750w. I also removed the...

    Wobbly rear wheel

My MD1000 rear tire developed loose spokes on about the third ride after hill climbing and going through cobbles on a couple of dry stream crossings. It wobbled so bad on the way home the rear end of the bike swayed or fishtailed as you described. I turned it over at home and tightened the...

Generic MD 1000 and HD 750 ebike model discussion

Hey there Robert and all, so glad to reconnect. We are now riding in style. And literally turning heads I have noticed :) I plan on ordering the sticker along with the tool kit from Bolton. I also noticed with the increased speed on the road with cars you REALLY need mirrors. Do you guys...

Generic MD 1000 and HD 750 ebike model discussion

My MD 1000 with Sram 9 speed arrived on 12/29. It was delivered via DHE (Dependable Highway Express) truck on the street in front of my house. It was ordered on 7/3/20. The box had damage and was open on delivery. Inspection showed no damage to the bike but no rear rack, rear light, or...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

Not sure what to compare it to. In my search I did not find anything comparable. Suggest reviewing Bolton Ebike youtube video of Kyle riding and talking about its size. He mentions his height and size of the bike. Then you can see him ride it.

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

No, they offered but I passed because they only had the 24" frame available. Even with the 26" frame I estimated it would be too small for me and did not compare to the frame size and strength of the MD1000. Having TWO batteries incorporated into the frame was another big point for me. I...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

I rode the HD750 and MD1000. The weight of the bike along with the larger tires added to stability and handling for off road trail riding. I am 6'5" and 260# so it did not seem heavy to me even when jumping off on the crest of steep climbs and reorienting the bike. The addition of the...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

60 days to ship ---- Yikes. Did the factory explain the holdup? On a side note, I had the same take on the fat tires. They are entirely excessive unless off roading and less weight would be a plus. On steep trails they had superior traction but for on road use more narrow and higher...

The Ultimate Mid-Drive Chain Care Thread

A method I have used for larger industrial chanis is to periodically check the lateral deflection. Push sideways on the chain with your thumb. When deflection increases noticeably, significant wear has occurred and it is time to change the chain. It might work with bicycle chains but I...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

I can only speak for the MD1000 but if powered by throttle only you do not have to pedal. Just like free wheeling down hill you do not have to pedal.

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

Got my order in last week. This will be a quantum leap from my old off the shelf mountain/trail bike. I broke a spoke on it a few days ago on the last harry down hill with heavy back pack. Scared me pretty good. I figured the dollars were worth the increased safety of the new bike. My wife...

    Wobbly rear wheel

I recently got a wobble on my rear wheel. I tapped each spoke to sound them and sure enough one of the spokes snapped off the nipple or fattened end at the hub. It only moved 1/8" out of place so was not immediately visible. Sent it to a bike shop to get a new spoke and have it trued and...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

When I test drove the MD1000 with the SA it was not hard to figure out what it did and did not like. I had no problems helping the bike with a brief pause to down shift when needed. Not having ridden an ebike before I preferred doing pedal assist on power setting 2 or 3 (out of 5) for medium...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

I am going with the MD1000 with chain and cassette. It will be similar to the Bakcou Mule but with the big Bikonit frame. I am anticipating the maximum stress to occur when doing steep hill climbs while hauling near 300lbs total rider + gear. On the test drive, I liked how the HD750 shifted...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

After seeing and feeling the quality along with use of high quality name brand components where it is made is not a concern. These are top quality bikes that are pushing performance across all manufactures. This is an excellent option for those who the function fits (hunting bike for me) and...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

Thanks Robert for your thread. Very helpful and I really love the MD 1000. Like the Stormey Archer hub, the Sram X-5 9 speed, if I can get it, will be an experiment. I can now see how a person can accumulate several bikes. Looking forward to have major fun with this bike.

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

I was able to test ride the MD1000 and HD750 yesterday. Here are the takeaways from my non expert perspective where I was looking for power up off road steep trails hauling my 6'-5.5"/260 lb carcas. 1) Power: The HD 750 did fine with good speed on mild on-road up hills but not a speed burner...

    Test ride on a Bikonit MD1000 (Mid-Drive) and HD 750 (Hub-Drive)

Thanks for the info...… a lot to consider. Looks like the Warthog HD750 may be the durable option for heavy weight on steep terrain assuming limited power up steep terrain. The question then becomes how much torque is needed to get up steep off road hills. HD750 torque is 80NM where as the...
